Missed the record time for the haskell by less than a second. Nearly a month after Jason Pierrepaul injured his hand, were all still in the dark. And so are the giants. Joining me now we bring in ebenezer news. Good to see you once again. Im sure camp is right . Just a little bit of fun. A little mysterious because nobody knows whats going on the as we do. Is this a big problem the loop . Its a huge problem because one, obviously they cant plan out things longterm. Then two, i think the lines of communication between the franchise and pierrepaul have been down for a while. Mara was talking the other day about really not having an idea of what Jason Pierrepauls camp even thought about the last Contract Offer that the giants sent over. This fireworks accident and kind of the fallout from that is all compounded on a giant problem that you just have with the giants and pierre pauls camp. Its old. Shroud in mist shrouded in mystery right now. Is there a feeling around the reporters there at camp that this actually might be more serious than we even see . Theres a possibility it is. Is the only thing were sure of right now is that hes down a finger. Aside from that, you dont know about nerve damage or how the skin graft went and i know we all saw the picture where hes bandaged up to the elbow. There is a feeling you dont know how healthy this guy is. Thats another problem too because on top of not knowing the injury, we do know this guy, Jason Pierre Paul two years ago in 2013, comes back from a back injury and it took him probably half the season. I think thats the big concern is just can he get in shape in time for the season . Im not sure. Thats the thing. Weve all seen the pictures on your website. We cant show them here on tv but we do see them on your website. One of the pictures, in fact, all of them show hes bandaged all the way up to his elbow. Does this mean we could be seeing tendon, ligament damage there . Obviously im guessing here and were all guessing. Mara is guessing. I dont think we he definitely doesnt look like a guy whos conditioning right now and thats a big issue. Were two month away from real games and it doesnt look like hes able to be out there on the field. Robert ayers, i spoke with him earlier this week. He said jpps thing is not about grabbing guys and moving them out of the way. Its about sliding off the side and creating space. But theres no question that if he were with the giants that he would be Getting Better medical attention right now, isnt it . One, he would be Getting Better medical attention, and two, there would be kind of a general timetable for this. Right now the giants really dont know where he is with things. Nobody really knows. At least there would be an idea of okay, we can get this guy back at this time. Nobody knows how his rehab is going. He could be getting great care or it could be awful. It feels contentious right now. I think thats really the big issue. Im wondering whether or not this is a byproduct of the cba. If he does sign this contract tender or a contract of any kind with the giants, that means the giants could put him on the nonfootball injury lion injury list. This is among the 8 million things im sure the Players Union doesnt love about the cba. Basically any injury sustained away from kind of mandated practices, the team can put you on this list and they dont have to pay you. So up to what, six weeks or something . There. You can stay there for as long as youre injured, and the team then has discretion about when they want to bring you off. What do you think hes trying to do here, wait this out until he gets 100 healthy to sign a contract . The feeling is he wants to be able to come to camp or come to show up to the giants, who knows, in three months. And he wants to be able to sign his contract and be able to show them i can play. That way they dont put him on the nonfootball injury list. Honestly what this is doing is this is putting pressure on jerry reese, the gm. Youve got your best defensive player that is not able to be put on the field. You dont know anything about this. How difficult of a situation is the architect of this giants team when you cant give tom coughlin the players he wants . Its a huge problem. Its that much more of a problem because of how much this defense was supposed to be based around Jason Pierre Paul. When you look at their offseason moves, pretty much not going out and getting a legitimate safety is saying we believe our pass rush is going to get to offensive quarterbacks before our cornerbacks and our defensive backs have to really cover, and suddenly youve taken away the key piece of your pass rush and you dont know when hes coming back. Dave kind of talked about were going to just do what we can, were going to plan our season as if were not going to get Jason Pierre Paul back but they also dont have answers there. There are plenty of questions right now with the giants. We havent even talked about cruz, odb.
