Westford panel will help select new police chief

WESTFORD -- The process for naming a new police chief is moving ahead, with the Select Board's appointment of a citizen member to a promotions panel.
The Select Board voted to accept Noel Almeida on Feb. 9 among the nine applications for the resident's representative position.
Praise for applicants
Select Board members praised the nine applicants who came forward, and encouraged them to remain involved in the process. 
"There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Thank you very much everybody, for showing that interest," Select Board Member Mark Kost said.
"That's what makes Westford, Westford -- making the community the best that it can be," said Select Board Chairman Andrea Peraner-Sweet.
