Led by a 64% increase in digital orders, Dallas-based Wingstop Inc. reported Wednesday that Q1 system-wide sales were up 30% and that total revenue increased to $70.7 million from $55.4 million over last year for the period ending March 27.
Net income hit $13.2 million, or 44 cents per share, up from 27 cents per share last year, surpassing analysts' Q1 predictions of 31 cents per share and revenue of $69.1 million.
"Our system is stronger than ever, with restaurant AUVs exceeding $1.5 million, which translates into best-in-class unit economics and our largest development pipeline to date," CEO and Chairman Charlie Morrison said in a company press release. "Our domestic development is poised to continue its momentum after a record quarter and we're excited to also accelerate growth in our international markets with our entry into Canada."
