BERHAMPUR: A woman allegedly attempted suicide after killing her two children by pushing them into a well at Raikia in Kandhamal district on Saturday. Police and fire services personnel recovered the bodies of children and took them to the community health centre, Raikia, where the doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased were identified as M.Baishanbi Patra (9) and M.Yubaraj Patra (4), police said. Their mother, Bhagyalaxmi Patra, survived the attempt. Bhagyalaxmi along with her two children left her house on Friday night after a quarrel with her husband M.Rajesh Patra, a businessman.
On Saturday morning, she allegedly pushed her two children into a well, two km from her house and then jumped into the well. After being informed by her husband and locals, police and fire services personnel rescued the children and woman, said sub-divisional police officer (R.Udayagiri) R K Patnaik.
