Worcester Polytechnic Institute is launching a master’s degree program in cybersecurity, the school announced on Tuesday.
Employment in the cyber security industry has increased dramatically in recent years, the school said, both domestically and abroad. The program at WPI will pull from the school’s expertise in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, as well as the mathematical sciences department and its Foisie Business School, according to the announcement.
“We recognize that the workforce needs professionals who can combine technical expertise in security with an understanding of its impact on people and businesses,” said associate professor of computer science, Craig Shue, in a statement. “Our new master’s in cyber security exposes students to each of these topics, ensuring that they can make a real impact.”
