It made the first landfall in dominica the first landfalling hurricane for that island in history. Catastrophic damage there. And puerto rico it made landfall this morning as a category four, winds 155. And close to a five. Making it the strongest landfalling hurricane in nearly 90 years for puerto rico. As it move as way a category three and stren strengthens back to a four and then curves its way to the turks and caicos east of the bahamas and somewhere in the midatlantic next week and the National Hurricane center does no extend beyond that because the error is so large. They were some concerned by what they found they called in the bomb squad. Sara bloomquist is live with more on the situation. But they are more of components, they are pipes and dont necessarily have a fuse. And the man that lives in the basement says the suspicious pipes long to him. The movers came across these two pipes and what may be explosive material fell out of one of them. And the bomb squad was called. The homeowner on the scene with her son was allowing a man to live in the basement and he told police the objects belong to him and he say handyman and trash guy and a disassembled shotgun and handgun legally registered to the man living in the basement. She left the house with a suitcase she told us the police found bombs in the basement. But doesnt know how they got there. Two bomb there neighbors were curious about what was going on and they didnt know the residents of the home. This is a nice quiet block. I didnt know anything would be there like that. We see so many fours and fives this year, you hear three and say its just a three. No three is extremely powerful still. And as we look at Hurricane Maria. Winds sustained at 115 Miles Per Hour. The center of the storm is move ago way from puerto rico and the eye did fill in, meaning it weakened a little bit as it encountered land and the eye is trying to form over the last hour or two because its back over the open waters and maria is expected to strengthen at least up to a four before it heads to the turk and caicos but still a large storm to the dominican republican and the British Virgin islands. Winds still gusting to 69 near 70 Miles Per Hour in puerto rico on the western side of the storm that is closest to where the eye is. Things will start to improve as we go into the evening and overnight hours for puerto rico. However, there are hurricane watches for the Northern Island of the dominican republican and the turks and caicos is next as a katz category four. And then well east of the bahamas and weakens to a two off the coast of the carolinas next week and way too soon to say where it may go. Something well continue to follow here in the upcoming week. The storm carved out sand cliffs up and down the jersey shore including North Wildwood. That is where we find gray hall and the damage left behind. Reporter its estimated that jose caused millions of dollars of damage here to the beach in North Wildwood. Look at drone 6 a once wonderful beach thanks to jose. They tell us that Mother Nature has the upper hand when it comes to erosion. Living here is really scary you dont know how it will affect you the local businesses are already struggling with many things against them and the last thing we need here is bad weather. Folks living and working in North Wildwood say that workers replenishing sand on the beach is nothing new and feeling the impacts of what was hurricane jose, causing rough seas and major eroding and it showed its might leaping over the sea wall. That hurricane did not come within 200 miles and we had 15 foot waves crashing into the beach. Moving sand and stabilizing the area around the pavilion and jfk boulevard that was in danger of collapsing. The erosion is part of the beach experience and not much to be done to stop it. He hopes to move away from a sand solution and create a more hearting ensolution like a sea wall. The engineer is mobilizing contractors to come in and do immediate stabilization to the dunes. And the early estimate to repair the dune damage is 2 million. It could be closed for two months many visitors that live in the area are hoping that as the season progresses Mother Nature will give North Wildwood a break. We hope this is the worst of it. Its part of nature and we have to accept that and disheartening for the people that live here. Back out live, another look through the eyes of drone 6, you see the erosion damage caused by what is now Tropical Storm jose and the mayor tells me that the workers will be out here tomorrow replenishing the sand here and now all eyes are on Hurricane Maria.
