20 degrees in trenton, 22 in wilmington, 23 in millville and 27 in cape may. But with winds, blowing around a little bit this morning, most of us still in the Single Digits. It is just enough to take that cold air and translate it into this sort of feel. Right now it feels like its 11 degrees as you head out in allentown, just nine in trenton, 8degree wind chill in reading. A 12degree wind chill in philadelphia. 13 in wilmington and 14 in millville. Obviously you want to bundle up in layers and maybe bring along some of that new stuff you just got as matt mentioned. Keep it handy. Well get the clouds breaking up a little bit for sunshine later in the day. This model only has us at about 27 or 28 nor a high. Im going to go 29 and at the best of times today, matt, the wind chills will make it feel like its in the teen. Colder air on the way in the exclusive accuweather seven day. Im full of good news, hm. Oh, boy, the game of how many layers can we wear, a good game to play this week. Good morning david. Good morning, everybody. At least most of our construction crews dont have to be out and about. Theyre still off for the holidays. So here on the schuylkill everything was opened overnight at the vine and right now volumes light, traffic is moving fine. As we look at the big picture you can see the speeds are still in the 50s, in some cases the 40s on 76 but overall no issues to report at this point. Had a couple issues overnight on the roosevelt boulevard extension. There was a van fire near ridge avenue, had a broken down vehicle earlier up around broad street. Theyre all gone now. All lanes opened. Now you have to watch out for that narrowed ramp from the southbound side of the boulevard to the westbound schuylkill. Take it easy. Theres not a lot of room to move on that ramp. Hearing good news from Police Officers in the eighth district here in the northeast. Theyre saying that willits road has reopened at holme avenue after that big water main break from yesterday morning but i would expect more breaks like that in the coming days with the really cold temperatures. And a leftover from yesterday, still have the downed wires in Fort Washington blocking Virginia Drive by the athletic complex. Highland avenue can get you around that. No major issues so far this morning in the forty great statf delaware. Speeds look good along 95, 295 and 495. An object on the road on 295 southbound headed towards the delaware Memorial Bridge so watch out for that if youre coming out of south jersey and in south jersey so far so good here along 42. Just a few headlights coming northbound toward 295. Tam. Okay, thank you, matt. Breaking this morning, a 58yearold man was killed while just crossing city line avenue overnight. It is 6 05 and a philadelphia family is talking for the first time about their awful tragedy involving the hitandrun death of an eightyearold boy right before christmas. Investigators say michael finn was speeding and swerving in and out of traffic when he slammed into 28yearold efran alvarezs car a week ago. His eightyearold son buddha was killed. People are now in a mad rush to pay off their property taxes. Erin real in for maribel aber this morning live at the nasdaq in times square to explain this. Erin. Reporter good morning. A new tax bill set to go into effect on january 1st has some homeowners rushing to prepay their property taxes. The new tax legislation caps the total deduction for local property taxes at 10,000. The homeowners in high tax states like new jersey, that amount it really just wont cut it with new jersey tax players claiming an average of 21,720. Theres currently no limit on how much residents can claim and many have already received their tax bills for the first and sector second quarters of 2018. New jersey lawmakers have asked state officials to issue the third and Fourth Quarter earlier so that all of the 2018s can be considered deductible. Stocks closed yesterday in the first day of trading after the holiday weekend. Right now futures point to a higher open. A report on Consumer Confidence is due out later today. Thats the latest from the Nasdaq Market sites. Back to you. All right, thank you, erin. Lets turn to david and talk about your accuweather. My goodness, just like now and all the days ahead it is cold. Were going to be probably topping out in the 20s very likely for another eight, nine days. Ooh. Then well probably start to see an upswing after that. Im waiting for one model to roll out and try to give you a better idea of what that date might be. Right now storm tracker6 live double scan shows you a little bit of light snow highlighted in darker shades of gray which tends to mean its very light. You can see how its kind of on the move, too, coming in out of the west and dipping down a little bit to the south but in any event parts of Chester County north of oxford just outside of chadds ford in Delaware County picking up a little bit of this, downingtown, coatesville. Low impact but slow it down if it does appear to be doing anything to the road surface. As we take a look outside, theres the airport and we actually have some sun on the way a little bit later on despite a little scattered snow shower here and there that weve seen this morning. Temperatures are certainly cold enough to support a few flakes. 22 degrees in philadelphia, 22 in wilmington right now. Still 20 in trenton. 19 in reading. 18 degrees in allentown on 23 in millville and of course the wind chills are making everybody feel like were in the teens and in some cases worse than that t model right now has 7degree wind chill in allentown. I think the actual reading is about nine but this is pretty representative of what you got out there right now. And as we roll up to 3 oclock, which again, is usually that milder part of the day, it still is not going to feel all that great. Wind chills of about 11 in allentown expected, 10 in reading, 16 in philadelphia and 17 in millville and this evening more of the same, pretty raw conditions. So, if youre headed out either this morning, this afternoon or this evening, you want to make sure you have a lot of layers, a heavy coat and that extra gear, too. Gloves, hats, all that of good stuff. You should have seen me for my walk yesterday. I had like a hood up and then another thing, a thing here, it was great. And the sunglasses. My uni bomber look. Weve got satellite right now and you can see some holes in the clouds. Again, a little cloudy to start out but i think we will increase the sunshine as we go later into the day. Lehigh valley, clouds mixing with some sun today, but brisk and cold, a high of 25 degrees. Wind chills in the teens and even below the teens for most of the day. Clouds, some sun at the shore. 30 degrees is your high. Brisk and cold there as well. And in philadelphia, a high of 29 degrees, clouds mixing with some sun, brisk and cold with wind chills in the teens from start to finish and there are your winds, down a little bit from yesterday but with the colder temperatures, were going to get worse wind chills and then overnight tonight the winds die down. Skies clear but its very cold. 14 an overnight low in philadelphia and i could see some outlying suburbs getting down to the Single Digits and thats on the thermometer. Wind chills even with the light winds might be a little worse than that. Looking out to the west you can see all of that cold air massing and pushing all the way down to saint louis. These numbers all colder than what i showed you yesterday. And that is the cold blip of air thats going to be shoving over to the east thats going to take us, again, a week or more to get to the other side of that trough. Your exclusive accuweather sevenday, 29 degrees, brisk and cold today. A little snow shower here or there in the morning. And then blustery and very cold on thursday with a high of 26. No doubt more wind chills in the teens there and probably on friday as well with partly sunny skies, a brisk day expected with a high of 29. On saturday, particularly in the morning and maybe the early afternoon, theres the chance of a little bit of light fluffy show. Probably doesnt total much more than a couple of inches and not everybody necessarily sees it. Stick with us on that cause its a weak feature and those are hard for the models to grab onto. In the afternoon some sun, a high of 29. Then we get into new years eve. Look out. A high of just 26 degrees. Eagles playing their final regular season game and its going to be cold for that one so bundle up in the afternoon and then as youre banging the pots and pans probably dipping foot teens at midnight and there are fireworks at penns landing at 6 oclock and again at midnight and youll want to bundle up for all of that. And then comes the mummers parade. A high of 24 degrees on monday and in the morning probably about 13 at dawn. So, you know how to dress mummers and your fans. Make sure you bundle up for that. Extra feathers. Yeah, right. Theyre going to have some really crisp struts going on, a lot of this. It is 6 11. A midair mixup. As we look at the big picture thankful for the speeds were seeing. 50s, a few 40s on the blue route, the schuylkill and 95. But we are watching a new crash in north philadelphia. Im expecting that to break up. Most of us should transition to a decent amount of sunshine later today. There are also a couple of break away light snow showers here or there. So, heres the setup not roads for this week. Really pretty easy mornings with relatively light volume as a lot of people have off work and in the afternoons it gets pretty busy as people head out and start to do errands and stuff during the middays. Better news coming from the police in the eighth district. Theyre saying that willits road and holme avenue are reopened after that big water main break from yesterday morning but around the region i would expect more breaks today and peco still working on those downed wires from the crash yesterday afternoon in Fort Washington. Virginia drive still blocked. Highland avenue can get you around that on this wednesday morning, tam. All right, thank you, matt. Breaking now and only on action news a man is left for dead in the street when a driver hits him and then speeds away. Police are still trying to track down that driver. In the meantime we know that the victim was left gravely injured in the middle of the street around 10 30 last night. This is video from the scene. Its along city avenue and north 54th street. Numerous witnesses did call police and they arrived on scene to find the 58yearold man lying on the street. They did say that right after impact, they saw a red lexus speed off eastbound on city avenue, possible proof of that is a red lexus emblem that was left behind so police are focusing their efforts on finding red newer model lexus. As for the Victim Police say he had severe head trauma, two broken legs. He lived just two blocks away from here. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead minutes later. It is cold today. It was cold yesterday. And its going to be cold what did they say in the movie for today and the rest of your life. Yeah. For now about another week or so and then well start to see some improvement but right now it is cold out there and in fact, were cold enough to support a little light snow shower. You can see this one passing through Chester County and now popping into parts of Delaware County, even around media and chadds ford, just at flurry there and even that darker shade of gray that youre seeing in oxford and over toward chadds ford is fairly light snow. I doubt this is having much impact on the road surface but if you happen to see something glistening on there slow it down and that will be gone before too much longer. Taking a look outside we have cloud cover over the Commodore Barry bridge but you can see some breaks and i think we are going to increase the sunshine as we go through the day. Unfortunately were not going to increase the temperature all that much. Right now it is cold. 22 degrees the this morning. Winds have popped up to 9 Miles Per Hour out of the north and thats dropping that wind chill down to 12. So, thats what it feels like as you step outside. 18 degrees currently on the thermometer in allentown, 19 in reading, 20 in trenton, too 22 in wilmington and up north youre looking at wind chills in the Single Digits right now in isnt some cases around nine and no better than the mid teens down south. Currently wind chills looking pretty raw as we go through noon and all the way up to 3 oclock, it doesnt get much better. Still feels like its about 11 in allentown, 10 in reading, 16 in philadelphia and 17 dream wind chill in millville. And more of the same later this evening. Winds may die down a bit after dark but its still going to feel pretty raw so heavy coat, extra layers and gloves and hats, all that extra stuff a real good idea if youre going to be outside today. As you take a look at cloud cover, yeah, theres some around here now but well break it up a little bit and we should wind up with increased sunshine later in the day. Temperatures are going to stay cold today. We did get up over freezing for a bit yesterday afternoon but not so today. 21 degrees by 8 oclock. 23 by 10 oclock, 26 by noon and by 3 oclock a high of 29 degrees in philadelphia and of course feeling like its in the teens. More of the same across the rest of the region, too. Allentown 25 degrees. 26 in reading. 28 today in trenton. 29 is your high in wilmington and millville. Probably up around 30 in cape may but wind chills in the teens and at times in the single Single Digits in the northern and western suburbs. And that cold air is really massing to our west. You can see that trough of arctic air coming down out of canada. Right now 3 degrees below zero in chicago. Four as far south as saint louis and this entire mass of cold air has to swing all the way through the east before we get on the other side of it and again, that will probably take more than a week to get there. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, 29 is todays high, brisk and cold. Bundle up. More of the same tomorrow. Blustery, very cold, a high of 26. Wind chills in the Single Digits and teens. And partly sunny and brisk on friday, 29 and again were probably going to be talking about those wind chills in the teens.
