Trenton, youre at 11. Allentown just nine. 10 degrees in reading. 12 degrees in wilmington. 12 in millville. And 16 in cape may and once again its those wind chills that are really the problem with winds building now into the teens in some neighborhoods, it feels like its 3 degrees below zero in philadelphia, very similar to this time yesterday morning. 1 degree below zero in trenton. A wind chill of two down in allentown. Five below zero in reading. Three below in wilmington. Millvilles at zero and cape may at four. As we go through the day, sunshine but temperatures remaining very cold. It looks like well stop in the mid20s. This model has 24. Im going to go 26 for a high. Either way the wind chills are going to make it feel a lot worse. Were looking at single digit wind chills probably through about lunchtime or so and then stopping at about 12 this afternoon. You have to bundle up but cover up. Lots of layers as you head outside today. Possible noreaster coming for wednesday night into thursday karen bringing at least parts of the region snow. Ill have the latest from accuweather coming up. All right, dave, weve got problems just coming in. The new Jersey Transit river line is suspended right now in mercer county. Its all because of debris on the tracks near hamilton and theyre out there trying to pick up. Its suspended between hamilton avenue and the Trenton Transportation Center much watch for those restrictions. Also the norristown high speedline they have equipment problems and seeing 15 minute delays. It is so brutally cold outside to be waiting 15 minutes for your train or to find out that its not running at all with the river line so be prepared before you head out. We had an accident that very quickly cleared here on the white horse pike at copley road. Watch for this in barrington, camden county. You you may see some emergency workers leaving the scene there. This is the blue route past ridge pike. We had an earlier disabled vehicle. Here it is cleared. Weve seen a lot of problems with disabled vehicles. This one here on the roosevelt boulevard extension has been out here for hours so watch for that on the boulevard extension as youre heading southbound right now. Looks like its just in the process of clearing. It was right about here a minute ago here so that one had been out here for more than an hour. You have to be prepared to be stuck out there in the cold. Keep the blanket in the car extra cell phone battery. Weve seen a handful of problems with disabled vehicles matt. Good to be prepared for that. Thank you, karen. A water main break has created an icy mess in northeast philadelphia neighborhood. Action News ReporterJeanette Reyes is live on the scene at minden street. Jeanette you say at the very least theyve shut it off. Reporter they have shut it off. They shut it off a couple hours ago but matt, the thing is the crew that comes to fix the pipe doesnt get here until 9 30 in the morning. Take a live look here behind me much the road is a pretty icy mess. They did have a salt truck come by and salt the road down just a bit. Now its kind of just a waiting game for that crew to come out and service can be restored to about 125 customers. Take a look at this video though. Its just incredible to see one of the homes that was the most severely impacted. That water that you see there, its actually leveled off in a drive way that dips down quite a few feet. So, we can expect that drive way to have quite a bit of flooding as well as the home next door. Three homes were impacted in a similar way. So, again, 125 homes without Water Service at this point. And it will be about 9 30 until crews come out. We were just told that this is an 8inch pipe that was running for about an hour or so, maybe a little more than that because this first broke, at least it was reported at 3 oclock this morning. So, we will wait for crews to get here. In the meantime you might want to avoid this road. Its minden road and this area its not a main road but certainly something you might want to avoid if you can do that. Well keep you posted if any thing changes. Reporting live in the northeast, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Thank you for that jeanette. Also breaking this morning, gunfire left a man critically wounded in north philadelphia. [laughter] my son saw it twice so, you know, that kind of evens things out. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows you that were dry and as we take a look outside, we are looking at the wind blowing in those flags on the parkway. This has been a common shot over the past week or so. Its cold out, the wind is blowing and thats really giving you an uncomfortable combination out there. Right now were at 13 degrees in philadelphia. Just nine in allentown, 12 in wilmington, 11 in trenton, 12 in millville and of course those wind chills thanks to that flag blowing wind making it feel like its three below zero in philadelphia and trenton. Even worse up in reading. A 0degree wind chill in millville. Everybody needs to cover up that skin and bundle up as you head outside this morning. Bring along the shades if youre behind the wheel, too. Weve got cloud cover out to the west that probably falls apart before it gets here. Once again, were expecting mostly sunny skies. Still bitter cold in the lehigh valley, though. A high of 24. Wind chills in the Single Digits most of the day. At the shore lots of sun but bitter cold, 27. Feeling worse than that. And in philadelphia, a high today of 26 degrees, plenty of sunshine. Brisk and cold, though, with those winds out of the west at eight to 16 miles per hour. And again, future tracker6 showing you wind chills below zero this morning. By noon, probably only about 11 in philadelphia. And by 3 oclock, which is typically the most comfortable part of the afternoon, not so today. A wind chill of about 13 in philadelphia by noon or by 3 oclock. Nine in allentown and 12 in millville. And more of the same in the evening and on into the late night period. Adam and cecily later tonight will again have pretty raw numbers to show you. Overnight tonight the winds die down a little bit. Mainly clear but still pretty bitter. 14 the overnight low in philadelphia. And as you wake up tomorrow morning, probably down around eight in some of those outlying suburbs. On thursday, it gets a little milder but the big story will be a coastal low pressure center, a noreaster coming up the coast and affecting us starting wednesday night and then going in through a good portion of thursday. Now, most of the models over the last couple of, oh, maybe, five, six days i would say have had this storm trending a little farther off the coast than the typical coastal noreaster which would really dump tons of snow on us so were thinking the most likely scenario for this to be far enough off the coast where we only get several inches. Theres the second scenario that actually pulled the storm even farther away and in that case we would just get a brush of snow right down along the coast. Having said that, we are still looking at some variety on the models. Future tracker6 shows you arrival time of about 9 oclock down the shore and then overnight this spreads back to the west of philadelphia with the steadiest stuff from about philadelphia down to the shore. The euro model winds up at the end of this by thursday afternoon with about one to 3 inches from philadelphia down to the shore. Less, maybe a coating to an inch out to the north and west and we think this is a pretty good bet, although i do want to quickly show you that there are at least some models that are going higher than that. The rpm is suggesting as much as five in philadelphia. The north american 3. 3. And this would be if that shift would happen and the track of the low would be a little bit closer to the coast. Again, were thinking one to three, somewhere in there. But stick with us because there can always be changes in the track of that storm, which changes your snow output. Your exclusive accuweather 7day brisk and still very cold today, a high of 26. Tomorrow in the afternoon, its actually not going to be as harsh, a high of 31 so if youve been kind of hibernating through this deep freeze and youve been waiting for a period to get out and get stuff done the afternoon on wednesday will feel a little better. An accuweather alert on thursday, friday, saturday. For thursday its the snow from the noreaster, hopefully just a few inches out of this but stick with us. A high of 29. And then friday behind this storm, bitter cold returns to the region. Arctic care on friday with arctic air on friday, 16. Overnight lows of five and four are close to records. Wouldnt be surprised if we set some record lows going into the weekend and then 23 is your sunday high. On monday, we are back to 38 which represents a bit of a thaw. However at the same time a clipper system could come through and give us a wintry mix that day. Boo, boo, boo, boo and boo. [laughter] thats my rating. Thank you david. 6 11. But of course, the winds again are going to be the big story. It will feel like its in the Single Digits all the way up past lunchtime and probably only topping at about 12. Obviously as you head outside today, you need to bundle up and cover up as much skin as you can because you can get damage to the skin in this sort of wind profile. As we take a look at the rest of the sevenday weve got a possible noreaster wednesday night into thursday. The Philadelphia Water Department has been bombarded with calls about these water main breaks this week and weve got more this morning. Lets go live to one of these scenes to Jeanette Reyes at minden and medford streets in the northeast and shes got the latest. Good morning. Reporter good morning, tam. This is the latest one of the latest water main breaks. I know weve heard of a couple since this one happened at 3 oclock this morning. Im going to step out of the way here. We have some traffic because the road is back opened but boy is it slippery. Add onto it the hundreds of gallons of water that came gushing out around 3 oclock this morning and a salt truck was needed of course. Take a look at this video we were able to get just a couple hours ago. You see that car there, the drive way dips down quite a few feet, so if the water is leveled out like you can see there you can safely assume that garage is flooded with waters. The homeowners we tried talking with them earlier this morning but understandably theyre very upset about the damage theyll see once in water recedes. There are three homes that have been impacted in a similar way. However, 125 homes are currently without water. In the meantime this area is probably going to get a bit busy. Its not blocked off so medford road here at minden is opened but if you can avoid it, i would do that especially once crews start to arrive at 9 30 this morning. Satellite again showing you the lack of cloud cover so get the shades ready. Lots of sun out there. Your temperatures are currently cold up in allentown. 9 degrees there. 10 degrees in reading. 12 in wilmington and millville. Really not much better down closer to i95 and 17 in cape may. And again, those wind chills below zero across much of the region. Three below in philadelphia. Five below out in reading. So, bundle up and cover up on your way out the door this morning. This afternoon gets a little better than yesterday but still pretty brisk and cold. By 10 oclock, 17. By noon, 21. Yesterdays high was 20 on new years day briefly at about 3 oclock. But of course those wind chills all day are going to make it feel much more raw, below zero wind chills right now. By noon, probably up to about 10 in philadelphia and then you get up to 6 oclock this afternoon and into the early evening hours and youre back down into the mid Single Digits in allentown and reading. At about 11 in philadelphia and dropping from there later on this evening. Winds die down but with the temperature its still going to be a problem. Tomorrow we have an area of low pressure building during the morning well to our south. By nighttime it will be coming up closer to us. Most of the model runs over the last four, five days have had this storm far enough off the coast where it has fairly minor impact. The first most likely track would probably give us several inches of snow starting wednesday night in through at least thursday morning. And it could push back as far as philadelphia, maybe into some of the nearby suburbs. Track two, though, would push that storm even farther off the coast and in that case youd really be looking at just a little brush of snow right down along the ocean front. However, there are some variations in the models. Right now were looking at about 1. 1inches forecast by the euro out of this for philadelphia. Less on the gfs. Some other models make it a little bit higher and this would only happen if that track came closer to the coast. Also in Atlantic City at the airport youre closer to the center of the storm so that while some models are going with that brush by idea, you dont get much snow at all, others are actually really ballooning. Now, do i think these are actually going to pan out . Probably not. But it is in the realm of possibility. And by the way, the timing, this comes in probably at about 9 oclock down the shore. And then by morning, it is spreading in closer to philadelphia. This new model run that just came out actually misses the city. Cant guarantee thats exactly the way it pans out. Your exclusive accuweather 7day, todays high 26, brisk and cold. Tomorrow night as harsh in the afternoon with a high of 31. Tomorrow afternoon a good time to get stuff done. Then that snow starts to come in by the coast probably after about 8, 9 oclock at night. Likely comes up to philadelphia overnight and on thursday, we do have the accuweather alert for a possible noreaster with some snow in at least parts of the region and a high of 29 degrees. Were keeping that accuweather alert up for friday and saturday because bitter cold marches right back into the region behind that departing storm. Friday 16. Saturdays high 17. Those lows of five and four are close to record lows. And then on sunday, 23. Finally on monday were back to 38 but a clipper system could bring us some mixed precipitation that day. Again, that noreaster on wednesday, a lot can still change and happen with that. Hopefully its low impact. Thank you, david. Its 6 41 and trapped on a train.
