Alarm fire in old city firefighters are still on the scene and residents not allowed back in what remains of their home. Tonight the work continues to make sure this location is safe. Sunday night and the big story on action news is a continued battle to secure the scene of an Early Morning fire that went to four alarms before firefighters were able to get it under control. More than 160 people had to be evacuated from apartments and nearby hotel rooms and tonight firefighters remain on the scene. Reporter that is right tonight this still remains an active scene and behind me this black is considered a collapse zone firefighters will be out here through the night investigators cannot get inside yet to determine the cause and where exactly the fire began. Just after 3 00 a. M. The four alarm blaze broke out at third and chestnut 150 firefighters tackled the fire. We were in the right places and to keep it from spreading. Reporter the flames and thick smoke forced people out of apartment buildings and guests out of the best western hotel. It was in smoke in seconds. At the high point we had reports of 160 people evacuated we were able to make sure everyone had somewhere to stay tonight. Reporter restaurants open like buffalo billiards until they set up shelter at the museum of the resolution and residents believe the fire began in an apartment at 239 chestnut and they placed the fire under control just before 7 30 this morning but hours later they still remain on scene. We are in an humongous collapse zone and what we dont want to do is put people in too early so through the night our crews are still end up working to extinguish all hot spots.
