Her killer says her body is buried near i95 in Stafford County. News4s Mark Segraves broke the news that search crews would look for her remains today. And mark is live along i95 near one of those search sites. Hi, mark. Reporter yeah, good evening, erika. I just got off the phone with derek butler, the brother of Pamela Butler, the woman who was murdered eight years ago. He told me that he was talking to police after the search and they gave him disappointing nutz. Were going to take a look from chopper4 at the first location they searched. This is mile parker 147. These are the express lanes of i95 in between northbound and southbound. And as we look at this location here, this area, this grassy area here is the area that they concentrated on with the search dog and derek butler tells me tonight that police told him while they did not recover anything there tonight, they did get enough of a hit from a dog to believe that that is where his daughter his sisters body was buried. But he says hes very disappointed to know they will not try to recover her remains. The search team got started just after 10 00 this morning. Derek butler was already here, hoping after more than eight years he would be one step closer to bringing his sister home. Investigators targeted two locations along this stretch of i95 in stafford. The first location, mile marker 147, dog searched the grassy area between the southbound lanes and the express lanes. Derek butler watched patiently from a nearby overpass. Mixed emotions, hoping that we would come up with something and be kind of be able to move past the point where we are, that we are still looking for her body. Reporter after about two hours the search moved 7 miles south to this location near exit 140. Virginia state police helped d. C. Police pinpoint the location where Jose Rodriguez crews told them he buried Pamela Butler more than eight years ago. Our investigators began doing some research looking at the original blueprints of the interstate, going back and looking at aerial photographs and so forth to try and maybe identify where in the area there would be a cross over, some sort of access one would have to the median strip. Reporter police could not comment on whether the search turned up any clues or where the remains of Pamela Butler might be. I was hoping that we would come up with something, and at this point i still dont know. Im hopeful and prayerful that we will, but i still dont know at this point. Reporter back to another live look from chopper4, this is mile marker 147 where believe they believe this is where the remains of his sister are buried. Now, again, mr. Butler told me by phone that police told him that while they believe that this is where she is located, because of two positive hits from those dogs today, they will not try to recover her remains because they said the landscape has changed so much in the eight years and when they made the improvements to bring in the express lanes, they brought inasmuch as 10 feet of additional soil to be buried to be put on top of that land. That is the very latest here along i 935 95. Erika, back to you. This is such a difficult story. People watching at home feel for derek right now. Mark, we appreciate your reporting. Thank you.
