Doug . Its way up across our region. Already seeing snow in our southern zones. And those areas that are seeing the snow now, you folks are going to get the most. If youre not seeing snow just yet, though, in the d. C. Metro area and points to the north and west, its coming your way too. Take a look. Show you wa were dealing with right now. Heres the though. We talked about the areas along and east of i95. If youre along and east of i95 you have the best chance of not only seeing snow but seeing akumth snowfall. Were seeing snow right now in waldorf. Fredericksburg, spotsylvania. Around the leonardtown area. Its been snowing very lightly but its already covering the ground because of the fact its been so cold. Were already seeing roads that are covered across the region. Nothing going on in frederick and leesburg. I think even you folks might see some. Heres the back edge. And you see what im looking at. Look at the storm. You can see over the last couple of frames, watch all the oranges, the reds develop here. Associated with that. That shows you this thing is really intensifying extremely quickly. Just off the coast and moving up the coast. So Winter Weather advisory in effect for areas in the purple. Virginia is under a state of emergency tonight because of this storm. This is a live look at i95 at akikwon. There is a bit of snow but you cant see much hitting the ground quite yet. Live with details on their plans for overnight. Hows it looking, shomari . Reporter well, the d. C. Snow team has already sent out trucks as of 8 00, pretreating the roads. Primariry and secondary roads along with ramps, overpasses and bridges. Right now im in the farragut salt zone in northeast d. C. You can see all this salt here. A front end loader will be coming here, removing the salt, dumping it in trucks. Those trucks, 200 of them, will be deployed throughout the district treating the roads. We also talked to some drivers who are already preparing for the snow. The ice bothers me more than the snow. Reporter chris hoge fills up before snow hits northwest d. C. Difficult to get to a pump. Might be more difficult to get around. Reporter tonights d. C. Department of public works loaded up these trucks with salt brine to help prevent icy roads. The trucks will drop it on primary and secondary roads and neighborhoods. I live on a hill. So anytime the rain or the snow comes down and freezing it tends it turn into ice. You see what is going on outside. Right now were inside at the department of public works snow xlaern command center. You see right here these boxes. Each one represents a snow plow. Each snow plow has a gps on it, and it allows people in this room to know what roads have been treated, what roads still need to be treated, and right over here these are the busy intersections throughout the district. For motorists tomorrow morning were going to be working throughout the night. Reporter christopher shorter is the d. C. Department of public works director. He says 200 trucks will be sent out at 1 00 in the morning to treat roads. Weve had temperatures. The road surfaces are very cold. Any precipitation that falls tomorrow morning, whether its half an inch or three inches, could be hazardous. Reporter chris hoge will drive carefully while dreaming for spring. Com, more than 3,000 flights have already been canceled. The sites misery map shows all the delays and cancellations in red. Boston Logan International says that nearly 70 of their flights tomorrow are canceled. Of course this winter storm not the only one affecting the midatlantic and new england area but also down south we see the same thing happening down there. Whiteout conditions in South Carolina and georgia. Snow left drivers stuck on i95. Some folks down there took their pets and actually got outside and walked on the highways. As you see that. Freezing rain, sleet and though stretched down into northern parts of florida. Tallahassee saw its first measurable snowfall there in nearly 28 years. Down in norfolk at the naval station military leaders looked at the threats forhi planes that land on them. Major airlines say that they have waived change fees for flights in the northeast and in the south. No word yet on modified Service Plans for tomorrow on amtraks northeast corridor. Montgomery county police tell us they found a womans body in the pond this evening. The water was iced over. News 4s Darcy Spencer with the latest now from investigators. Reporter Montgomery County police were called here to this neighborhood pond right around 3 30 this afternoon. A resident had discovered remains and called 911, reporting a suspicious situation. This is chopper 4 video of the scene here at 14200 Ballinger Terrace in burtonsville. When police got here, they determined these were in fact human remains. They pulled the womans body from the pond and l Montgomery County police are still trying to figure out who the woman was and how she died. In burtonsville, Darcy Spencer, news 4. A man was found dead today inside a home in germantown, and investigators are trying to figure out what happened. They think he was murdered. Chopper 4 over the scene on crossridge way tonight as detectives were investigating. They tell us the man was found with some sort of trauma to his body. If you know anything, Montgomery County police want to hear from you. Police in Prince Georges County are hoping a man they have been searching for has found his way to someplace warm. 65yearold Daniel Dehaven is a husband and father. He has dementia, and he may be in trouble. He was last seen in the parking lot of the costco store just up the frood his home. Police canines spent the day scouting the woods looking for him. If hes out in this cold for too long, he may not new at 11 00 tonight, after he claimed millions of fraudulent votes were cast in the 2016 election, President Trump has decided to end his voter fraud commission. He cited a lack of cooperation from the states. Mr. Trump created that commission this summer, youll recall, claiming without evidence that voter fraud cost him the popular vote in the election. Hillary clinton received about 3 million more votes nationwide but lost by nearly 80 votes in the electoral college. Ne Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein discussed the house investigation into Russian Election meddling today with House Speaker paul ryan. House Intelligence Committee chair devin nunes had set a deadline for today for rosenstein to provide information on a dossier about Donald Trumps alleged ties to russia or be held in contempt. Late tonight nunes said his committee will get the requested documents. Meantime, in the most direct challenge yet to the special counsels legal authority, former Trump Campaign chair Paul Manafort is suing Robert Mueller and the Justice Department. Manafort argues that prosecutors overstepped their bounds by charging him with conduct that he says is outside the scope of the russia probe. The Justice Department calls the suit frivolous. Fire and fury isnt just the name of an explosive new book on the trump presidency. Its also the response from the white house tonight and the president himself. Former chief strategist steve bannon calls the 2016 trump tower meeting between the president s son and a group of russians treasonous, according to the book. Bannon also suggests that special counsel Robert Muellers probe is on the right track. The book claims the president demeaned Communications Director hope hicks in front of her and used a vulgar expletive to describe acting attorney general sally yates. I think furious, disgusted would probably certainly fit when you make such outrageous claims and completely false claims against the president , his administration, and his family. Already snowing in parts of our southeastern zone, snowing around fredericksburg, over toward waldorf, and once again im seeing pictures from those areas. And its sticking on the roads immediately, and this is why. Once again, weve got a very cold night out there. The current temperature with the snow about to start coming down in the d. C. Area, around 30 degrees. Those winds out of the east at 8 miles an hour starting to bring in a little bit more moisture. And you notice down to the south our numbers have been dropping in areas like fredericksburg and huntingtown down to 37 now. So everything is falling and dropping the temperatures and stick on the roadways. Heres where the Winter Weather advisory is, frederick county, leesburg, warrington and points to the east. Thats the Winter Weather advisory. Now, the winter storm warning includes parts of the Northern Neck over toward the eastern shore, and then youve gohe includes ocean city, rehoboth, and over toward salisbury where not only are they going to see four to eight inches of snow, theyre going to see 40 to 50mileperhour winds. But winds are going to be a factor here too. Well see winds in our area gusting 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour tomorrow. Its going to be a brutal day. Heres the radar. And you notice it looks like its snowing just about everywhere. But the atmosphere is still very, very dry. We call this the donut hole. Anytime you see that around the radar site it shows you that its snowing aloft but as its coming down its evaporating. Its not snowing yet in d. C. But starting to. Starting to see some snow around waldorf, fredericksburg and points to the south. We talked earlier today about that sharp cutoff. Look at that cutoff. Snow to the east and nothing back toward the west. Thats going to be the case for tomorrow. Now, snow coming down heavily around portions of the delmarva. Already really heavy now just around the norfolk area. And look at this. You can really see this storm developing. Watch right here this line of thunderstorms that developed, almost looks like a hurricane, like the eye of a and we do have some lightning. Look at this right other there. Lightning coming in. We have some thundersnow with this as well as the storm continues to amplify. Heres the future weather. Timing this out for you. Here it is, 11 00, about right. As we move into the 1 00 hour, coming through the d. C. Metro area over toward i95, and then it starts to envelop the entire region mostly east of the blueridge. If youre in winchester, hagersto hagerstown, youre not going to see anything at all. In frederick and leesburg you wont see much either because its going to move back to the east. By 8 00 still snowing around d. C. That tells you were going to be in for one heck of a rush hour tomorrow morning before its all said and done and moves out of here. Now, your snowfall forecast. Ive updated this a little bit. Ive moved it back a little bit. So i think leesburg and frederick, youll see a little coating up to an inch. I move the one to two into d. C. Back toward Stafford County around fredericksburg. I move the two to four closer to fredericksburg and into portions of Charles County and then you see where the four to eight inches are.
