While it is hard to hit a moving target, harder maybe when the targets may be sitting still on the sidewalk and lawn chairs like you see here, like last night at 10 00 h con lippincott, the shooters moving and may have one target in mind, but had everybody sitting close together. Four men, two in their 50s, two in their 30s. What we do know, these men sustained some serious gunshot wounds, as last report, theyre all in stable condition. But it is still speaks to the level of gun violence that we deal with. We always need as much help as we can get, preferably beforehand, in terms of intelligence, in terms every letting us know, you know, who is capable, who is likely to do something, because every some beef thats ongoing in the neighborhood. Well, a car also took a bullet, and no shells on the ground, meaning, somebody probably fired from inside this big nissan path finder and all of the shells stayed in that vehicle because it is doubtful a revolver can fire that many shots in succession driving quick by. One other thing, since these guys were older, not younger, these guys did the smart thing, they didnt tell the cops, we didnt see who shot us. Thats how the cops know it was a nissan pathfinder, because the witnesses are actually cooperating, which is rare, when we stand here telling you about crimes like this. So thats the smart thing, and the good thing here too. Good point. Thanks, steve. 7 06. Call it 7 07. Autopsy reveals 19 year old Pennsylvania College student died of blunt force head trauma. Authorities found 19 year old Mccrea Williams unconscious sunday near dorm on the campus of lafayette college. He died monday at a hospital. Williams was starting the school year as a freshman lacrosse recruit. Right now, authorities are investigating what led to his death. A pharmacist accused every trying to kill her own mother. Mother is sick. She said she just wanted to end her moms suffering, but, prosecutors are not buying it. Jenny with the details in abington, jenny . Reporter oh, looks like we lost her mike. What the issue here, this pharmacist says that her mother has been really really sick. With osteoporosis, and she wanted to end her suffering, and she certainly knows how to do it because she is a pharmacist. So, i know, age old debate of what is a mercy killing, and what is not . Because her Attorney Says it is a crime of compassion. Exactly. We will get back to jen any just a bit, talk more about. That will 7 08 now, investigators say extreme heat may have caused the deaths of at least eight patients in that nursing home down in Hollywood Hills florida hollywood, right inbetween miami and forward loud ever dale. Hurricane irma, knocked out power to the facility, creating those intense heat conditions. And so many people are questioning why the patients werent taken to the airconditioned hospital that was across the street . Yes. Criminal investigation has been launched, this morning. So, we will get into the politics, of it, the criminal aspect of it, but lets also talk about the health issue here, doctor mike comes in. What is it about elderly patients that they cant take the heat . Lot are on medications like diuretics, they can de hydrate you. So if youre in 110 degrees weather youre going have lot of sweating and what we call inacceptable losses, so these people will get overheated quickly because their bodies cant respond to that type of temperature. If you didnt hear, theyre dealing with all of this flood aftermath. Then the temperatures in florida, specially south florida, went up close to 100 degrees, doctor mike. When katrina happened, there were lots of problems. We remember hearing about people in the intensive care unit, on ventilators, and there was no electricity. This is a different situation. If you take care of people, you have to have a back up plan. And, again, not getting into the whole aspects of the logistics of this, but why . Now, my mother is in a wonderful assisted living situation, and i know for a fact that if the power goes out, there will be generators there, and they will be moved if they have to. These folks are very vulnerable. Apparently three generators they turned on. Now, theyre investigating, or were the generators too close to the building it, some of these patients die of Carbon Monoxide poisoning . What im also wondering, because of the fact theyre still dealing with the effect of hurricane irma, still trying get to people, there could be other elderly or other people trapped, and these conditions, how long can you expect someone to be able to stay in those conditions, and survive, before someone can get to them . Not long. Hours . No, not hours, but several days, if you have someone thats elderly, that cant keep their body temperature down, they get dehydrated, they get heat stroke. All of the things we hear about, football players, same thing can happen to the elderly. Medications, they dont have access, they cant get up. Who was around . I mean, who was taking care . I mean, people that ran the facility, there, they were in there. Okay . And after the first person died, you would think, hey, across the parking lot is a trauma hospital. And ive heard their generators were working. They were. So i dont get it. I just dont. I dont get it. Youve got to have contingency plans, even if it is an act of god like a hurricane. You have to be prepared. A lot of them are in critical condition, how can you bring somebody back, fill them with fluids . Well, again, i think theyre going need very, very careful and intensive care. And these are older debilitated folks. Ive heard published reports, they were sick to begin with. Well, they were. That doesnt make it any better. You need to take care of people, first, and for most. Yes. Thats what you do when you sign up to take care every people. Yes, ages 70 to 99, matter of fact. Just horrible. Well, it is ridiculous. It is one of those things where it wasnt the winds. It wasnt a crane that fell over. It was the fact that people were not being properly cared for. Yes. This happened in rock forward, outside every spokane, shooter sophomore shot and killed one student in the hallway. Custodian got him to surrender before cokill anyone he will. Police dont have a motive, but classmates say the shooter had hinted that he was planning something. He was handing out notes to his friends, and it said that he was going to do something stupid where it either might get him killed or in jail. The shooter is in police custody. The three wounded student are hospitalized in serious condition. But are expected to be okay. Pretty small high school. About 300 kids. Check this out. Okay, as you know, there is art all over our city and i love it, think of all of the murals earnings, nearly 4,000 of them now, but everybodys talking about what is right next to the frank rizzo statue, and near city hall. This right here, the afro pick art installation, and this is right near city hall, like mike was mentioning, if youre facing the frank rizzo statue off to the right, little behind it, one every 20 temporary pieces commissioned by the Mural Arts Program of philadelphia to be displayed. Mural art monument lab hopes that the art will generate tough conversations about race, culture, intolerance, and this already has a lot of people talking and it is called power to all people. Not sure what to think. I dont like it too much. Let me tell you something about that pick, that pick comes from very significant time, when i think that black people needed to fill excessive self worth. It symbolizes us it, represents unity. Yes, immigration to send it to all of my friends, relatives, that had arguments about the taking down the confederate general statues in other states. A pick, thats terrible. Thats not how i want to be represented. So a want to be clear, all power to all people, the artist thats what he is calling this art installation. I mean, it was a different time in our country. And what we did, with the artist, cure ate ers, we walked around, and we looked at different sites in center sit. I heart ones did you think in. First we thought love park, then new it would be under construction first, we thought maybe it will faster, we thought of courtyard every city hall, but we had another artifice mind for there. The clothespin. The clothespin, we thought of that, then it seemed just too close. Too cluttered. And the artist, actually, like oh, and i want to say weve done two public art project on msb plaza, we loved them, very successful. So i like the fact it is a civic building, important, a Cross Section of the city, people in and out all the time. I love. That will so, the artist walked around the plaza and he saw the rizzo scripture, saw the clothespin, he looked around, he saw the game pieces, and he liked all of it. And he said oh, the context here is really interesting. But you had to have thought about the that this could come up shall specially recently, with all of the calls for the removal of the frank rizzo statue. You had to know even though preplanned, give earn whats happened recently, maybe this might not be good spot for it . The problem is were you do complicated works of public art, especially, those structural, months in the language, literally. No way that we could have started this project few months ago. So, just change, even if we had said which we didnt, i mean, we said oh, you know, look, art, art is complicated, public art is complex. But thats part of the beauty of art. It is a forum, platform, catalyst for conversation. But the truth is, physically it, would have been impossible, really impossible, to move. So again, listen to what she said. They decided to put that in a year ago. Yes. And the artist, who is a great guy, started it, what, two years ago. Two years ago. Building it . But there was article, though, that came out yesterday. Tan said that you had the intention of putting thereto counter balance the frank rizzo statue. That was a direct quote in the paper. Direct quote in the paper but it wasnt what i said. Okay. Because it wasnt it is, first of all, i dont want to speak for the artist, i feel uncomfortable doing, that hang should speak for himself. He was looking at the site, looking at rizzo, but also explicitly mentioned the clothespin, game pieces, and i think he was looking at msb as being a really interesting place, because it is the heart of the city, and monument lab is all about stirring conversation, being look at our history, how do we unpack what a monument s how do we make sure everybodys represented. And listen, for 30 years, ive been involved in public art making. And we have seen it be large, sweeping, small, and intimate, but more often than not, it is inspiring and it often moves the needs that are great, and great for is the it. I when you say great for sit and creating conversations, so many people comment thong saying well if you put something like, that it is devisive, not creating a conversation, dividing us more by causing us to, you know, separate from each other because we feel so strongly. Some people are really offended by t based on some of the comments. Right. And i think thats the risk that you take, that people are going to like it, people arent going to like t sometimes people come to up me and they say i dont like all of the murals.
