And youll notice, the doors are open and a fresh l i poster hang willing up saying this build something going to get sealed. But it may be vacant officially, but it is not vacant unofficially. They had 19 Homeless People that they rescued out of here. And the inquirers excellent reporter mike newell, has been documenting philadelphias heroin epidemic and crisis, just profiled this place this summer, and he talk about how it has been used as is a heroin shooting gallery. Were tracking a developing story out of northeast philadelphia, where a 11 year old is dead. Absolutely, tragic here, police are still investigating exactly how a child sleepoverturned deadly. Theyre not sure if it was Natural Causes, the autopsy will be performed today. And police are await that report from the medical examiner to learn more about what happened to this one Year Old Girl. What we know she was found unresponsive, yesterday morning, she had spent the night at a friends house down the street here. The 9200 block of angus place. This was a friends, apparently she had many sleepovers with. She lives only a couple of doors down from there. The children went to bed around 1 30, wednesday morning, the 11 Year Old Girl never woke up, according to police, who tell us a parent found the child unresponsive. And called police. She was rushed to ariatorresdale hospital where she was pronounced just after 11 00 a. M. The child, again, lives just couple of doors down from here, we talked to people in the neighborhood, who knew the young girl, theyre sad ends by this lost. You just dont hear about this, especially 11 year old little girls, very scar. I very nice kid. Theyre all, you know, they all played out here. All the time. All the kids play out here. At this time we have no indication that there is a crime committed. It could be just a natural or accidental death. Nineteen why saved, likely whole lot more ran april way once this fire started, and may have started themselves. You dont need to be veteran fire marshall to figure out what likely happened here. Combine i err reporter mike newell six months ago reported on this Old Catholic Church shut by the archdioces in 2012. Had heroin addict coming and going he reported through the once boarded up windows, uncle see, are wide open once again, along with the doors everywhere you look. Inside, mike reported cardboard mattresses, blanket, bloody rags, filled the floors, along with needles, lots of needles. So many homeless, heroin users, one man, who looked inside told mike that it looked like a crowd waiting for a mass to begin. So with this windchill near zero, some in this cold building likely lit something to try to get warm overnight. So we had massive fire between one and 2 30 this morning, that the Fire Department saferly put out. Safely got everybody out including the homeless left hine. Got them nextdoor. Got them warm. And the firefighters managed to do a great job without getting hurt themselves. Our problems right now, obviously, due to the weather, we have freezing conditions, hampering us with weighter, and also, our ability to move around on the roof of this building. We also have two septa buses here on location for our members, to try to keep them warm as we rotate crews inside the church. So after mike newell report this summer, the mayors offers among those reading it and saying they were going to get this place sealed up by licenses and inspection instantly after that story and get some help to the people who were staying here, but as you can tell, you cant seal these big Old Buildings for long. So, you know, but we will investigate it and treat it as crime until we proof it is not. No signs every trauma a the child had no known medical conditions.
