Are generally in the 20s for the philadelphia area, but look at the records to beat. Atlantic city 4 degrees saturday morning. Philadelphia the record to beat is faux set back in 1986. Trenton the record is 5 degrees set back in 1986. And we had those temperatures that will be dropping over the next 24 hours due to the cold coming from canada straight to the delaware valley. Iain, it is that polar vortex and that Polar Express that we always talk about, but once again, a dangerous cold will set up shop across the area not only for friday with wind chills below zero but also low temperatures both saturday and also sunday morning well flirt with records across the delaware valley. Back to you. Incredible stuff. All right, scott, thank you were taking live look now at cape may, new jersey, and they took a brutal beating from this big storm. Some people at the jersey shore beginning 2018 buried in snow. The top spot, margate. They got 16inches. Thats where we find our dave kinchen. Dave, wow reporter yeah, wow is the wore. By the way i dont know if you can still see some of the utility trucks buy going by theyve been pretty busy dealing with power situations. Well be checking on that also. Were hoping that no one has to deal with a bus and they dont think they will. Were here at a bus stop. You can see how hard it is to get to the cholecyst over here. I mean depending on your ability to walk in this weather as you said 16inches of snow on the ground here and the Weather Service saying that the issue will still be drifting snow and you can kind of see some down the way there. People shoveling the sidewalk where some of the drifting has been. Visibility could be limited if there is in another round coming up this way. We know theres a state of emergency for several counties including Cape May County and Atlantic County that also means travel restrictions limited to only search vehicles like police and fire. Ems and people who are needed to keep critical Government Agencies running here. You can see all of the snow piling up. A big, big mess here indeed. Back to you. All right. Dave, stay safe out there. Thanks. Another massive water main break in northeast philly now 70 homes are without water. Crews got the call this morning to castor and rhawn streets. The Philadelphia Water Department says at least two properties have water in their basements and now theyre advising customers to make sure they have one thing in their home. Unfortunately, all around the city we have were having water main breaks right now. Customers should at least, you know, get some bottled water. Always have bolted water in the house in case of an emergency. Certainly right now with water main breaks happening at the rate that they are, everyone should have at least case or so of bottled water so if there is a water main break they can get through the day Drinking Water and cooking and things like th that. Thats good advice much the depth says that they expect service to be back up and running sometime later tonight. Moving to old city now the city of philadelphia already announcing that schools will be closed tomorrow. The line was back up and running around 1 30 after being suspended for some four hours. Investigators pouring over the scene in brutal conditions saying the weather most likely played a role. I just think obviously there was some snow and some very bad weather at the time of the accident. Reporter there are several businesses along the tracks here. I spoke to a worker who says he came down this same hill this morning and it was very slick. He says that he heard a louder bang and a scream. Police are not yet releasing the identities of the women two women involved pending notification of family. Iain, but very very sad. Exactly. Extremely sad. Dawn, thank you. Well wild plows have been hard at work drivers in New Castle County are having a tough time as the strong winds just below the snow right back on to the roads. Fox 29s jeff cole has got more and hes live in wilmington tonight. Jeff . Reporter iain, you know it. The wind is blowing out here the snow will get blown back on to the roads. I think the larger issue is that if the wind continues to blow and picks up there may be some Power Outages and in this weather that would clearly be a problem. Earlier in the day clearly it was snow. Snow on the roads and visibility that was the challenge. Right now, it is simply the bitter cold. On most days Miguel Morales tends to his 89yearold mother in wilmington home but the snow brought the chance to eastern few extra bucks. Hard earned dollars on a cold 12 hour day. With the winds and the gusts, upping, it keeps piling up keep going back and hitting it over and over again. Its been its a mess much its been a mess out here. Traffic moved slowly along the snow coated interstate. Chimes twisted in the stiff winds on tartanalia pretty wilmington street of flags, holiday decorations and a road yet to see a city snowplow. There was a van stuck that they were trig to get them up the street. So i think theres like five or six people that were out here trying to dig them out. It can definitely get frustrated. Reporter with 400 pieces of equipment on the road and 500 workers, deldot says its atta attacking the storm. The cold winter wind is biting back. Honestly i love winter but this is a pretty rude awake kenning to winter. This is not the winter im used to. Reporter i think deldot has done really pretty good job of cleaning upstate roads here in delaware, but theyve got real challenge apparently in Sussex County where there was a snow emergency. Theyve gotten hammered with the snow down there. Theyre asking that only official vehicles stay on the road. Worry here, though, along naamans road in northern wilmington. Things are moving pretty well. Its just really cold out here. Live in wilmington, jeff cole, fox 29 news. Iain, back to you. All right, jeff, thank you. Stay warm out there. Septa doing its best to let you know the state of things in light of this big storm. As of right now, all Regional Rail trains are operating on a normal schedule schedule but lines of course can experience delays of as long as an hour as well as cancellations. Trollies are also operating on schedule but with delays. Only three bus routes have been suspended the 35, 92 and 120. The Mark Frankford and broad street lines are operating with minimal delays. Major change is tomorrow, though, all Regional Rail lines will operate on an enhanced saturday schedule. Um, because of the extreme cold, winds could have overhead wire problems, um, we dont want people stranded in too many vehicles or if we get into issues so were trying to limit the number of trains that are out on the system tomorrow. Also, tomorrow buses will operate in place of the bala kin wide line train. You can see this time lapse from doylestown the steady snow from early this morning keeping roads covered throughout the day. Thats pretty cool stuff. Tonight still snow on the ground. Fox 29s Dave Schratwieser is live in moorestown, new jersey, with how folks are dealing with the storm there. Dave . Reporter iain, we were up and down the route 38 corridor here in Burlington County all day from mt. Holly to hainesport, lumberton, mt. Laurel, moorestown and maple shade everywhere we went work crews and residents were digging out. As the train of snowplows made their way down route 38 in Burlington County thursday afternoon, plowing and salting, martial lawrence and his son nathan were scooping up snow in their driveway in hainesport as fast as it fell. Its not bad. No, not bad. Pretty light. Pretty easy shoveling. Not heavy. Its good stuff. Easy. Working on it. Reporter downtown mt. Holly looked like a ghost town except for a single shoveler at the robins nest on washington street. Snow crews were also hard at work along main street in moorestown. Thats where we found thomas mount and his coworker grinding it out. Bad. Push it and its covered right back up. Its bad. Stay home. Stay off the roads. Thats what i would do. Its cold and its very win windy. Um the roads are slippery. Um, but i like driving in the snow. So report meanwhile John Wisnewski and his familiarly from westampton piled into the pick up for a quick trip to the supermarket in lumberton. The kids were off from school and celebrating john, injurys seventh birthday. You got to have food for that. The roads are bad. So better safe than sorry. Reporter whats the best part, youre off from school . It look like maybe tomorrow, t too. Yup. Reporter we also found carol or ren deck pushing a cart full of grocery across the snowy parking lot at this shop rite. She has lots of mouths to feed at home. I got five kids so home off school today and looking forward to eating. Reporter report probably off tomorrow it sounds like. Theyre hoping. Reporter as for all the forecasts this time around. The snow fell fast and furious as expected and now the storm is winding up and its out of here just a few lingering snow showers here or there and this will continue to move offshore. The big story is the wind and of course the cold. Look at some of these impressive totals bayville 16inches. Brick township 12. 5. Pleasantville, new jersey, 10. 5. Pomono nine. Wildwood crest seven. King of prussia 4. 1inches. Take look at the wind chills it will be a cold one if youre stepping out tonight. Take it slow those roads are snow covered and icy and temperatures will stay below freezing until monday. So its not going to change. Eight below in the poconos. Eight in wilmington. It feels like eight in millville in philadelphia it feels like nine. Tomorrow, wind chills range between 15 and 30 below in the poconos. Allentown more locate 15 below. But ten to 15 below in the philadelphia area and five to ten below even down the shore. That means wind chill advisory will go into effect and records will be broken for more on that lets turn it over to scott. Hey, scott. Hi there, kathy. Take look at this monster of a storm as it pulls away, the cold that is headed right in our direction. But right now, the worst conditions moving towards sections of boston where they are looking at snowfall rates two to 3inches per hour and tumbling temperatures. But for us, right now, the snow has ended. Its 24 degrees. It feels like nine and look at that wind sustained out of the west northwest at about 21 miles per hour. Look at the temperatures north and west. Bala kin wide 23 degrees. Chadds ford checking in at 23 degrees. About 4inches there. Doylestown 21. 19 degrees in quakertown and what about sections of south jersey. Look at the pretty uniform temperatures with that snow pa pack. 22 degrees voorhees. Vineland 22. 23 degrees right now in sea isl city and brigantine checking in at 24 degrees. Its been a Long Duration cold and a reinforcing shot of colder air headed in our direction for friday, saturday and sunday and then it look like we finally start to pull out of this arctic assault as we move toward early next week with High Temperatures back into the 40s, kathy, its going to folic a heat wave early next week. So is that the january thaw . If yeah. The 40s. How about that . Wow i dont know. Ill take it i guess. Yup. Thanks, scott. Great job. Lets take you down the shore to wildwood. Defendant view. Wilmington nine. Dover nine. And wildwood it will only be 12. But wind chills will go below 0o during the day tomorrow, sun but still wind. The temperature close to 20 degrees. But 19 .
