It happened this morning at Marshall County high school. This is in the southwest part of the state. Police say the shooter a 15yearold boy armed with a handgun. A boy an girl were killed. 17 other people injured. 12 of them had gunshot wounds. Now the suspect was taken into custody. Police have no reason to believe anyone else was involved in that shooting. Listen, the never before seen video released by Atlantic County prosecutors shows the nearly half hour long standoff with the linwood endocrinologist armed with a 9millimeter handgun. Drop the weapon. Police were that to arrest the doctor on weapons and obstruction charges. Eventually leading to murder charges. For hiring a hit man to kill his wife, 47yearold radio host april kauffman. She was found shot dead inside their home in 2012. Prosecutors say she was threat threatening to divorce her husband and expose an opioid pill mill he was operating with the pagan motorcycle gang. Hes talk to many press outlets tonight, and frankly i think he certainly aggressively trying to defend himself and frankly save his congressional career in fact a long career in public life. Now the allegation is this. That he had a romantic interest in a female aid much younger than he, and that he expressed hostility to her and may have allegedly harassed her once she began relationship with another person outside the office. Meehan denies all of this, but in point of fact he did use taxpayer money to pay her not a settlement he says but a severance. Well show you about a minute 30 seconds of our interview with congressman meehan just moment ago. So did you have romantic feelings for this woman . I did not have romantic feelings. I was relationship that was a very professional relationship. Why did she misconstrue it though. You might have tried to say to her, this isnt what this is i dont want to you think that its anything more than that, correct. Did you try to make it clear to her. Youre putting words into something which dont represent accurate the communications that we had. Let me tell you what we did do. She suggested New York Times s has reported that she believed that you had a romantic interest in her. Did you not . I expressed explicittedly during the time that we were talking that not only did i not have an interest in a relationship that i was a happily married man, was not interested in any kind of of a romantic relationship. Congressman you paid her. You gave her money. She came to you and you used taxpayer money to pay her. You asked me a question about the nature of the relationship and so but the money would seem to under cut any claim that this was, well, you know, we thought a lot of each other because she did really well in my office. She was by gatekeeper when she leaves she gets, you know, ten of of thousands of taxpayer dollars. Let me tell you how we get to a resolution. Theres a process. And during that process, a complaint can be made and it can be resolved traditionally through a payment that comes from the sort of House Administration account thats put aside for that. Reporter and thats what meehan says. He says in essence look he didnt do anything wrong. He certainly felt for her. He believed she was a great employee but says he didnt in fact sexually harass her. Now, he has released a handwritten letter that he sent to her and according to the original reporting on this, this young woman believed that this was some kind of romantic communication that he was having with her. Now, important to say this. First, the lawyer for the woman says that they believe that he has violated a confidentiality agreement and that they may in fact go back and do more legal action around this. But heres Something Else meehan says. He says, that his campaign he says was contacted by a person connected to this aid, that the campaign was asked for money, that the person was not given money and then the formal complaint was made against him on capitol hill. We have run that by this womans attorney who weve been talking to. She declined to comment but she clearly believes that this is a breach whats going on here. We will have more at 6 00.
