Falmouth School Superintendent Lori S. Duerr said she cannot comment on whether the two Falmouth High teens who allegedly beat a Franklin teenager until he was unconscious have or will face disciplinary measure in the schools.
âIn accordance with State and Federal laws protecting student privacy, we cannot comment on disciplinary action. As with every student disciplinary matter, the principal has made decisions within her legal authority based on the information available to her at the time. The principal of Falmouth High School has my full support for her handling of this matter,â she said in a written response.
The two male teens from Falmouth, ages 16 and 17, have been charged with assault and battery with serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and simple assault and battery in Falmouth Juvenile Court.

In Barnstable District Court, there were 2,264 criminal arrests and summonses for 2020. There are typically about 2,800 at the Cape’s largest district courthouse. In 2019 there were 2,723; in 2018, there was 2,823, a difference of about 20 percent compared to 2020.

Search warrants result in three arrests
Three Tisbury residents were arrested Tuesday on drug charges, according to a press release from the Tisbury Police Department. The drug charges are the result of a two-month investigation that included the Cape Cod Drug Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and Falmouth Police, the release states.
On Tuesday at 10:30 pm, two search warrants were executed. The first warrant was executed in Falmouth by the Cape Cod Task Force, DEA, Falmouth Police, and members of the Tisbury Police Department, on a vehicle registered to Janelle Berneche, 31, of Tisbury. In the vehicle was also Jason Mello, 32, of Tisbury. As a result of the search warrant on the vehicle, both Berneche and Mello were arrested for possession of a Class A substance suspected to be fentanyl, the release states.

A court clinician testified in a status update at Falmouth District Court Wednesday, December 23, that murder defendant Andrew M. Baily, 26, should be further evaluated at Bridgewater State Hospital.
On Monday, Mr. Baily pleaded not guilty to murdering his mother in her Mashpee home on Friday last week.
Judge Edward F.X. Lynch ruled that Mr. Baily would be held without bail pending a mental heath evaluation during the arraignment in Falmouth on Monday.
Mr. Baily is charged with domestic assault and battery, strangulation or suffocation with serious bodily injury, assault and battery on a 60-plus-year-old person with serious injury, and murder in connection with the death of his mother, Cheryl R. Crowell, 60, of Mashpee.
