Nova Scotia reports six new COVID-19 cases; active cases drop to 59

  HALIFAX Nova Scotia reported six new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Eight previously reported cases are now considered recovered, dropping the number of active cases in the province to 59. Three of the cases are located in the Central Zone; all three are close contacts of previously reported cases. Two of the cases are located in the Eastern Zone. One case is a close contact of a previously reported case. The other case is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada and is self-isolating as required. One of the cases is located in the Western Zone and is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada. The person is self-isolating as required.

Students, universities prepare for holiday travel outside Atlantic Canada

  HALIFAX Ally Hancock, a fourth-year student at Nova Scotia s St. Francis Xavier University, said she s a bit apprehensive about her flight back home to Toronto for the upcoming holiday break. I ll be nervous going on a plane. My mom s telling me to wear two masks, but I think it ll be fine, Hancock said in a recent interview, adding that after a long semester stationed in the province, she s looking forward to seeing family. I m really close to my mom, so it s always been a really big priority to go back to see her. Like many other students in Atlantic Canada, Hancock is planning on leaving to see family outside of the region, a trip she s taken every year since she enrolled at the university. But this year, her travel is shadowed by fears over travelling during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
