Kate Brown said Thursday that starting next week counties that have moved out of the COVID-19 extreme risk level will not be moved back into it without giving them two weeks to improve their case numbers.  The temporary freeze also will allow businesses to avoid abrupt closures and major changes in how they do business. If case numbers don t improve in those two weeks, however, the county will move backward.

Oregon surpasses 1 million vaccine doses administered KATU Staff © Provided by KATU Portland The Oregon Health Authority reported that the state has surpassed a milestone in the fight against the coronavirus on Wednesday: more than one million doses of vaccine have been administered.  Health officials also reported 276 new coronavirus cases, both confirmed and presumptive, and 27 new deaths. The OHA noted, A large volume of backlogged electronic laboratory reports (ELRs) were received yesterday. As a result, today’s test counts are higher than anticipated.   There have been 156,287 cases of the virus diagnosed in Oregon since the pandemic began more than one year ago. In total, 2,252 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.
