ACMS and ATTSA stage protest, demand wage hike, ST status in Baksa The activists of ACMS, ATTSA and tea garden labourers gathered at the premises of the office of the Nagrijuli Tea Estate and staged the protest. A CORRESPONDENT BAKSA: Under the patronage of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Nagrijuli Primary Committee of ACMS and Nagrijuli Primary Committee of Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA) on Wednesday staged a two-hour demonstration at Nagrijuli Tea Estate under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa demanding Scheduled Tribe status, land pattas to the tea garden community and to increase the daily wages upto Rs 351.

Assam working for equal development of all communities: CM Sonowal

Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday said his government is working to ensure equal development of all communities in the state. Sonowal, while speaking at the 73rd foundation day of the Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA), said that within three months of coming to power in the state, his government had organised Sahodor programme with over 70 indigenous communities, setting a roadmap for launching welfare schemes for them. He hoped that the steps taken by the BJP-led government will give a new dimension to the development of the tea tribe community. Sonowal praised the ATTSA for spearheading a social empowerment narrative for the development of the community.
