Everyone knows that the politics of race can, has, and
will impact on the mood and sentiment of voters heading to
the polls.
In a previous column, I provided a Māori
view of the politics being deployed by Judith Collins and
the National Party.
Her campaign to have a debate that
her party has controlled since its inception is a crass play
in terms of the politics of fear and division based on
identifying a victimised White majority versus a preferred
Brown minority.
Collins’ politics are clumsy, overt
and crude. Many of her own see them for what they are. That

Wet and wild winter weather can place increased pressure
on the banks of waterways, increasing the risk of them being
eroded. This can harm water quality and disrupt ecosystems
that support biodiversity and water quality.
Some land
management practices related to land uses like farming,
forestry, roading and horticulture could cause soil erosion
and/or a build-up of contaminants such as nitrogen,

The locum GP discussed with the man his

The proposals divide science into ‘mātauranga
putaiao’ (Māori understanding of the natural world) and
‘western science’.
Mr Goldsmith says he would like
to see Education spokesperson Chris Hipkins call it
‘western science’ to the leading rocket scientists or
specialists in artificial intelligence in China and
India.
“It suggests the curriculum leaders don’t
know the first thing about the subject. Science is universal
no matter where you come from. Calling it ‘western
science’ is an insult to half the world.
“But more
importantly, how will these sorts of muddled distractions
help turn around our declining achievement in the
