Residents of Eketāhuna and the surrounding
area, who are aged 16 and over, are encouraged to book for
their COVID-19 vaccine this Saturday, 24 July, as part of
the first rural outreach clinic in the MidCentral District
rohe.
Adele Small, Strategy and Integration Lead for
Pae Ora Whaiora Hauora Māori Directorate, says the the
clinic, held from 9am - 5pm at the Eketāhuna Community
Centre, has been driven by the community through the
Eketāhuna Health Centre, with support from Rangitāne and
Ngāti Kahungunu iwi, and MidCentral District Health Board
staff.

The team at Marlborough’s Emergency Operations Centre
is keeping an eye on a small, fast moving weather system
expected to bring rain to Marlborough this evening. The
MetService advises that rainfall on the ranges is likely to
total 20 to 40mm over a six hour period but is unlikely to
result in any significant flooding in the Wairau
River.
The team is also monitoring the forecast of a
potential significant weather event early next week and will
continue to liaise with MetService and NIWA for the latest
weather information. This rainfall may hinder work on road

From the 6th - 19th August 2021, Fairtrade supporters
across the country will come together in a series of events
to celebrate Fairtrade Farmers getting a fairer deal now and
into the future.
In Auckland, award-winning barista
and mixologist, Sam Low has teamed up with Fairtrade ANZ to
host a Fairtrade coffee, cocktails and cake evening with
mini cakes from The Caker.
The event held at
Everybody’s in Auckland on August 19th, 2021 will teach
attendees how to mix their own Fairtrade coffee cocktails,
whilst learning more about Fairtrade coffee cooperatives in
Papua New Guinea, farmers and how big of an impact their
The predicted persistence of poor weather has meant that
there will be no change for the orca calf being cared for at
Plimmerton Boating Club and it is likely to remain in the
temporary pool for at least another day. The young orca has
now been in our care for 10 days.
The Department of
Conservation (DOC) Marine Species Manager, Ian Angus, says
the veterinarians have done their regular health assessments
and some of the previous health issues are no longer a cause
for concern.

The Tree Council has today lodged an appeal in the
Environment Court against the decision to grant consent for
tree removal and earthworks to enable Watercare’s Huia
Water Treatment Plant to be built on Manuka Road in
Titirangi.
The broad community campaign collaborating
on the case to date also includes Forest & Bird,
Titirangi Residents & Ratepayers Association, Waitakere
Ranges Protection Society, Titirangi Protection Group and
Save Our Kauri Trust.
The community team brought a
total of 10 expert witnesses to the recent 3 day hearing.
