(DRYDEN, ON) – On May 5, 2021 at approximately 6:38 am officers from the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Machin Volunteer Fire Department and Northwest Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Mutrie Township (west of Dryden).
The investigation revealed two commercial motor vehicles collided, blocking Highway 17. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision.
As a result of the investigation a 27 year old Winnipeg man has been charged with Unsafe Move Lane or Shoulder.
Members of the public are encouraged to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 when they observe a dangerous driver.
OPP are connecting an Atikokan man to three separate incidents in that community last month.
OPP say the first was an attempted break-in or a garage on Maple Crescent on April 22.
No entry was gained, but a window screen was damaged, and a gas can was taken from the property.
Two days later, a man was found inside an unlocked porch.
That same day, three residents attempted to stop a man from taking a bicycle at the post office only to be threatened with a knife and brass knuckles.
Police later arrested 32-year-old Joshua Veran.
He’s now facing a long list of charges connected to each of the three incidents. They include;

SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND-Three people are facing drug charges after Six Nations Police spotted a silver Honda Odyssey travelling on Chiefswood Road Jan., 19, 2021 that was being operated by a man known to have a history of drug charges .
Police spotted the vehicle stopping at what they said was an address known to be occupied by a man with a similar criminal history who was wanted on a surety revocation warrant.
Police began to investigate the activity of the suspects who left the residence and were spotted at a business near Hagersville. Police said the vehicle circled the building entirely, then backed into an open bay door with the rear hatch opened. Once the vehicle became mobile, Police initiated a traffic stop where they found two men in the front seats and a female in the rear.
Two Men Facing A Number of Charges After a DUI in Woodstock
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police were tipped off about a possible impaired driver on Sunday afternoon on Winchester Street.
Police arrested the driver and the passenger after the investigation allowed them to find over $11,000 in stolen goods and drugs in the vehicle. Officers seized the property, along with a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.
The 37-year-old driver from Woodstock was arrested on the following charges:
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Flight From Peace Officer
