A DRIVER asleep in his car left the engine running on the forecourt of a petrol station. The Audi driver was found taking a snooze by officers at the petrol station in New Lane, Eccles. Checks revealed him to be disqualified and he also failed a drugs test. The driver, who was also found with cannabis, was arrested for all offences. The incident was reported on Greater Manchester Police s Traffic Twitter account. The man was stopped by officers in Market Street, Little Lever, due to driving at excess speed. Once the car, a Renault Megane, was stopped, officers discovered the driver had a revoked licence - invalidating his insurance policy. He then failed a drug test when cannabis was detected. A TAXI driver had to be rescued by police last night after following his Sat Nav into a canal. The driver in Eccles had followed the system s directions straight into the Bridgewater Canal, leaving his black Jaguar in the water.
