As new cases rose in Karnataka to 6,150 on Tuesday, the State government reserved 50% beds in private hospitals for COVID-19 patients.
“The Health and Family Welfare Department’s Order dated June 23, 2020, on reserving 50% beds in private hospitals and regulating rates to be charged by the hospitals for treatment of government-referred COVID patients and package rate ceiling for treating private COVID patients will continue to remain in force until further orders,” the order issued by the Chief Secretary said.

Six more die; active cases inch close to 10,000-mark
The surge in coronavirus infections continues unabated with the State recording as many as 1,498 cases on Monday. While 62,350 persons were examined, results of 1,866 were awaited. Six more patients died.
The highest of 313 people with coronavirus were detected in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region followed by 164 in Medchal-Malkajgiri.
Nizamabad district registered the third highest cases of 142 while Rangareddy added 128 infections to the State’s total. The new cases also included 85 from Nirmal, 62 from Warangal Urban and 60 from Jagtial.

With 43,000-odd samples tested, 1,097 found positive; six die
The State recorded more than 1,000 infections of coronavirus for the third consecutive day. It was especially alarming since it was Sunday, a day that typically sees fewer cases due to low testing. As many as 1,097 persons were found COVID-positive with just 43,070 samples being put to test.
Results of 1,965 persons were awaited while six more succumbed to the virus. With this, the death toll has reached 1,723.

Kerala’s 2,802 new cases came from 45,171 samples, registering a TPR of 6.20%.
COVID-19 cases in Telangana rose by over 200 in a single day at 1,321 on Saturday, after recording 1,078 infections a day earlier. Five more patients died,Kerala reported 2,802 new cases and Karnataka, 4,553 on Sunday.
In Telangana, 62,973 persons were tested. Of the 1,321 fresh cases, 320 were from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation region, 144 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, 121 from Rangareddy and 96 from Nizamabad.
