Having a pet escape your yard has got to be one of the scariest things I have gone through. My dogs used to be escape artists. Usually I would get a call that they are gathering at the Chick-fil-A or Walgreens on Georgia. That was right down the street from where I was living at the time.

Not surprisingly, the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare pound in northwest Texas has angered animal advocates who say the name is “insulting” and would hinder the animal’s chances of getting adopted.
The pound where the American Staffordshire and Terrier mix is up for adoption regularly euthanizes 20-25% of its animals, according to data.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The new animal care facility at the City of Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare Department will be unveiling on Thursday, April 22.
The new $1.4 million facility – the AAMW Animal Services Building - is funded by Proposition 2, approved by voters in 2016.
The facility was completed two years ahead of schedule and under budget.
The facility is located behind the main AAMW building, located at 3501 S. Osage.
