In the viral video retired IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das is seen protesting the proposed demolition of a portion of the historic Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library’s (KBL) heritage building in Patna. This is to facilitate the construction of a flyover. Das plans to petition the Patna High Court too to stop the attempt to erase part of our intellectual heritage. Several newspapers, radio and television channels have carried people’s angst against this proposed demolition. Patna, Feb 11 : A retired IPS officer has accused Bihar minister Leshi Singh of possessing sophisticated weapons such as AK-47, AK-56 and Self Loading Rifle (SLR).
Amitabh Kumar Das, a 1994 batch IPS officer, has written a letter to Bihar DGP SK Singhal, urging him to immediately conduct raids on different locations to recover the weapons.
Leshi Singh has been recently appointed the food and consumer affairs minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.
PATNA: Almost three months after the formation of the NDA government, the state cabinet was expanded on Tuesday with the induction of 17 more ministers. With this, the size of the cabinet has gone up to 31 against the maximum strength of 36 ministers.
Out of the 17 ministers inducted on Tuesday, nine are from BJP and eight from JD(U). BJP has a majority in the cabinet with nine new ministers in addition to seven already inducted when the NDA government was formed on November 14, last year. The number of ministers of JD(U), on the other hand, has gone up from four to 12. The Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Mukesh Sahni-led Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) have one minister each in the NDA government led by CM Nitish Kumar.
