Free suicide awareness and support training workshop to be held Saturday in Brinkley; open to faith leaders and community

(Photo Credit: AFSP Arkansas) Soul Shop, a suicide awareness and support training workshop, will be held at First United Methodist Church in Brinkley this Saturday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mary K. Meacham, education program chair for the Arkansas chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, said the event is specifically for faith leaders, but anyone 18 and older is invited to attend. “It does not have to be just for pastors or the employees of a church. It can be for anybody that wants to know more about suicide prevention,” Meacham said. “It is really needed within our faith communities because the first people that a lot of us tend to reach out to in a time of crisis is our church family.”
