NEW YORK, May 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ To coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month and the continual impact of COVID-19 on the lives of young people,
Seize the Awkward is launching several partnerships throughout the month of May, equipping young people with the inspiration, tools and language to check in on one another s mental health. The national, award-winning campaign, a collaboration between the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, The Jed Foundation (JED) and the Ad Council, and created pro bono by creative agency Droga5, is reminding teens and young adults that supporting the mental health of themselves and their friends is an ongoing process, particularly when experiencing the continual impact of COVID-19.

Callie Boisvert and Abbey Shumway are willing to share their struggles with mental health. But that wasn’t always the case.
Boisvert was bullied in her last two years of middle school and it led to what she called a suicidal depression. Instead of discussing with others how she was feeling, Boisvert kept it buried deep inside.
“I had no idea how to handle it,” she said. “I never really fully recovered from it. It affects me so much to this day.”
But Boisvert has seen changes in herself, especially after she started to be more open about how she was feeling – to her parents, friends and a counselor.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN A man is in serious condition and a Saratoga Springs police officer has serious lacerations on his finger after a critical incident in Eagle Mountain, officials say.
Police received a call about a carbon monoxide-related medical problem shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Utah County Sheriff s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.
The Utah County Sheriff s Office and Saratoga Springs Police Department responded and found a suicidal man in a garage attempting to self-harm with carbon monoxide, Canon said. The man barricaded himself in a room of the house with a knife and self-inflicted a number of injuries.
