3 ways Christians can serve military families - The Christian Post

Courtesy of American Bible Society April 15 is Purple Up! For Military Kids Day, when Americans are encouraged to wear purple to show support for Military children and thank them for their strength and sacrifices. But it’s important to remember that our Christian mission can last far longer than a single day. More than two million children in the U.S. today have had a parent deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. At least 19,000 of them have had a parent wounded in action. More than 2,000 have lost a parent to war, and an untold number live with parents with post-traumatic stress disorder.

In the report released Thursday, Barna found that while around two-thirds of all black adults considered themselves Democrat, a little over three-quarters of churchgoing blacks said the same. Sixty-seven percent of all African American adults said they were Democrat, while 19% said independent, 8% said they had no affiliation, and 6% said Republican. By contrast, 76% of African American churchgoers said they were Democrat, while 14% said they were independent, 5% said they were Republican and 5% said they had no affiliation.

William Federer: Lamb of God Sacrificed on Passover, Resurrected on Feast of First Fruits — The Patriot Post

Jesus’ crucifixion as the “Lamb of God” occurred on the Jewish Feast of Passover, the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan, most likely between 30 and 33 AD. Passover was when each Israelite family in Egypt killed a lamb and put its blood over the doorposts of their house so that the angel of death would “pass over” during the final plague. The Apostle Paul wrote: “For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.” (I Corinthians 5:7) The next day, the Israelites observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread, where they removed from their homes all the leaven or yeast, which was symbolic of sin.
