Nurses Weigh In Against SEIU Strike in Kalispell
There s two stories taking place with the hospital in Kalispell this week. The first big story is the fact that nurses affiliated with the SEIU union are in the middle of a three day strike. The other big story is that several nurses do not support the SEIU and have now filed a petition to break ties with the labor union.
We spoke with Sheila Stencil and Todd Bernhardt from Nurses and Community Unite (NACU). Stencil is a nurse with Logan Health, formerly known as Kalispell Regional Hospital. She tells us that she and other nurses are picking up extra shifts and working longer days to ensure that patients continue to receive the care that they need in the middle of the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) strike.
Casino Smoking Ban in Shreveport Starts August 1
The smoking ban for Shreveport s 2 casinos is set to go into effect on August 1. The ban was passed one year ago, but implementation was delayed until this year to give the casinos time to put the changes in place.
This smoking ban also includes all bars and nightclubs in the city of
Smokers at El Dorado and Sam s Town Casino will now have to step outside to light up. Both casinos will likely set up smoking areas that are convenient to gamblers. The casinos in
Bossier City are not impacted by this ban.
Schools will have in-class sessions at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.
Widening the field of people eligible for vaccination was certainly a huge motivating factor in those decisions, and a local school district is looking to help get more kids vaccinated before the next school year.
In collaboration with Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s, Killeen ISD will open the doors of four campuses next week to allow children ages 12 and older to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
The medical team from McLane Children’s will travel to four different campuses across the district to provide free service to the community.
