What s in Mayor Wheeler s Proposed $5 7 Billion Budget?

by Alex Zielinski • Apr 29, 2021 at 2:53 pm MOTOYA NAKAMURA / MULTNOMAH COUNTY Mayor Ted Wheeler’s once-grim outlook on the city’s upcoming budget has grown sunnier, thanks to an assist from the federal government. Wheeler’s proposed $5.7 billion budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year, released Thursday, restores funding for city programs previously on the chopping block while avoiding large-scale investments in law enforcement. Wheeler’s proposed budget will need City Council’s approval before going into effect on July 1, 2021. The city s general fund has lost an estimated $100 million from the COVID-19’s pandemic impact on city revenue streams, like Portland s business and lodging taxes, including a predicted $20 million gap in the ‘21-22 budget.

Local Governments And State Recreational Trails Will Receive Funding Assistance

Region XII Council of Governments has provided a COVID-19 funding update. The first is for recreational trails programs through the Iowa Transportation Commission. They have approved a one-time, $5 million allocation to help offset COVID-related reductions in the State Recreational Trails (SRT) program. Funding can be used for property acquisition, construction of new trails, maintenance, resurfacing and restoration of existing trails, development and rehabilitation of trailside and trailhead facilities and trail linkages. Applicants must be a federal or state agency or local government. Details on the application process are included below. The impact to Road Use Tax Funds have been significantly less than was originally feared at the onset of the pandemic, but there is still an estimated decrease of $50 million. The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved the COVID-19 Relief Fund allocation for the distribution of funds appropriated in the December 2020 CARES Act. The previousl

It was the second word – liberty – that was truly revolutionary, as the United States became the first country in human history to actually restrain the ruling central government through a myriad of constitutional checks and balances, as well as provide for the regular election of its representatives (Congress) and the top executive (the president); in other words,

City Council Begins Review of Capital Improvement Projects | Milford LIVE! - Local Delaware News, Kent and Sussex Counties

City Hall Milford, DE Milford City Council at a workshop prior to their meeting on April 12, began a review of capital improvement projects in the city for FY22 through FY26. Council discussed projects for electric, water, sewer, solid waste and public works. Due to the length of the workshop, council postponed discussion of projects for streets, City Hall, IT, police and Parks & Recreation until a later date. “I want to remind council that this is a plan and that we don’t want to get too hung up on the dollar amounts at this time,” Lou Vitola, Chief Financial Officer for the city, said. “Congress is looking at bills for infrastructure and there is the America Rescue Plan Act that could provide us with additional funding. We have also heard there may be additional streams of funding for some of these projects.”
