Covid 19 vaccination drive date: India is all set to undertake one of the biggest vaccinations drive in the world tomorrow i.e. January 16. Prime Minister will start the mega Covid 19 vaccination drive on January 16 via video-conferencing. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved Serum Institute of India s Covishield vaccine and Bharat Biotech s Covaxin for emergency use, paving the way for their roll-out and administration to millions. Ahead of the mega drive, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare shared a fact sheet about the vaccines listing out guidelines and issuing an advisory on who shall be administered the doses and under what circumstances one may be excluded.

Centre has been proactively carrying activities towards preparing for the nationwide roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in close collaboration with States/UTs and all stakeholders. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Sunday held a Video Conference with administrators from States and UTs on the CoWIN software which forms the backbone of the last-mile vaccine administration.
The meeting was chaired by Ram Sewak Sharma, Chairman of Empowered Group on Technology and Data Management to combat COVID-19 and member, National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration of COVID-19. State Principal Secretaries, NHM Mission Directors, and State Immunisation officers, and senior officers of the Health Ministry also attended the meeting.
