Don t obstruct cops from carrying out their duties at roadblocks

SHAH ALAM: The public cannot stop the police from inspecting their vehicles if there is suspicion that an offence has or is being committed, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said. He said policemen manning roadblocks (SJR) were duty-bound to inspect documents such as identification card, licence, vehicle details, the validity of road insurance and travel documents. “The public must obey the SJR personnel when asked to provide any documents involved and that is within their prerogative of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the guidelines of the National Security Council (MKN). “Not obstructing cops from carrying out duties is also among the SOPs set by MKN,” he said in a press conference after a visit to the roadblock mounted at the Setia Alam Toll Plaza here, today.

Marriage solemnisation ceremonies are allowed in Federal Territories from tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Marriage solemnisation ceremonies are allowed to be held at all kariah mosques and at the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) offices in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, effective tomorrow. According to the Guidelines for the Marriage Solemnisation Ceremony during the Movement Control Order (MCO) issued by JAWI, only five people are allowed to attend, namely the bride and bridegroom, wali (guardian) and two representatives of the couple. The marriage official and two witnesses must also be from JAWI and the mosque where the ceremony is held. “For brides and bridegrooms from different states that are in red zones, the number of attendees are also restricted to five people,” according to the guidelines updated today.

MVCC believes that the vape industry in Malaysia is too substantial to remain unregulated and has urged the government to immediately introduce appropriate regulations to create a positive multiplier effect to the Malaysian economy.
