We must create tomorrow s leaders today - Gov Ikpeazu

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has described the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) as a veritable platform that can motivate the youths and enjoined the Council to avail the youths of business prospects through education and mentorship. Governor Ikpeazu was speaking when he received at the Government House Umuahia, a delegation of the South East leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria. He said that the State’s investments in the development of youths are key, adding that, “we must create leaders of tomorrow today”. The Chief Executive Officer of Abia State, further said that his conviction is to try to imbibe in youths the possibility of excelling even in difficult situations.

Rounding up street kids for rehabilitation Last week the Ministry of Youth Sport and Child Development sent 350 street kids to a Zambia National Service training camp in Katete, Eastern Province. This follows a Memorandum of Understanding which the Ministry signed with Zambia National Service on the 15th of August this year aimed at rehabilitating street kids. Zambia National Services had finished rehabilitating its centres designated to accommodate street kids in October. Minister of Youth,Sport and Child Development,Emmanuel Mulenga said the aim was to remove all the kids from all the streets of Zambia and take them to National Service so that they could be tutored accordingly so that they can learn survival skills.The Minister said the government has a lot of confidence in ZNS hence identifying the institution as a reliable partner in ending streetism and ensuring that the minds of street kids are fully transformed.

Iraq launches Youth, Peace & Security Coalition [EN/AR] Format 11 December 2020; Baghdad, Iraq - On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the 2250 UN Security Council Resolution, Iraq launched the National Coalition for Youth, Peace, Security, under the auspices of the Minister of Youth & Sports, Adnan Darjal. The Coalition supported by the Ministry of Youth & Sports, UNFPA, the Folke Bernadotte Academy, the Swedish Government, and Peace And Freedom Organization, is the result of the UNSC resolution 2250 on youth engagement in the peace-building process and conflict resolution. The resolution was adopted in 2015 to shed light on the role of youth in establishing healthy communities that build on conflict-resolution reasoning and prevention of violence and extremism.
