COVID-19: 2,202 New Cases, 73 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 2,202 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 4,366 samples tested in the last 24 hours.  The ministry also reported 73 deaths and 494 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period. Afghanistan has so far recorded 107,857 positive cases and 4,366 deaths from COVID-19.  According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 3,874,365 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 178,827,648.  Wahid Majrooh, the acting minister of Public Health, said on Tuesday the situation in the country will be critical in terms of COVID-19 infections for another week.
