Article by Social Share Georgetown – President Irfaan Ali says the government has outlined a strategy to provide psychological, moral and other support to the families of the fishermen illegally detained by Venezuela. He said the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security would be meeting with the families soon in this regard. Giving the nation an update, over the weekend, on the government’s position on Venezuela’s continuing aggression against Guyana, Ali said he had instructed army Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Bess to lead a delegation to meet the families of the fishermen and the owners of the vessels.

A MoHSSS release yesterday explained that under the “Wish Upon A Star” initiative, the wishes of 50 children with special needs were granted for Christmas. Among the 50 were five year-old Ayush Bharat; 12 year-old twins Hafizah and Saleemah Harmon, and their eight year-old sister Shareefa. They met President Irfaan Ali yesterday afternoon at State House.

John Shiklam writes on the recent collaboration with UNICEF to train stakeholders on the implementation of the law In a move to curb the increasing cases of child abuse, the Kaduna State government in collaboration with the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has taken steps to implement the Child’s Welfare and Protection Law which was passed by the State House of Assembly in 2018.
