Estonian expert joins the EU civilian mission in Ukraine

In December, the new Estonian expert Jaana Napa joined the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine). Napa will head the mission’s Kharkiv Field Office.
Napa has previously been on UN missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, on OSCE missions in Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia and on the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia. She began her career in 1993 at what is currently the Police and Border Guard Board.
The EU Advisory Mission focuses on the reform of Ukraine’s civilian security sector. Estonia has been part of the mission since its inception. Its main aim is to reinforce and support reform in national authorities, such as the police, other law enforcement agencies and the legal sector, mainly the General Prosecutor’s Office. Ministry of Foreign Affairs recognises former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz with an Order of Merit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia is awarding an Order of Merit to former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz on his 100th birthday for his services to Estonia.
“We are very honoured to recognise George Shultz, the former U.S. Secretary of State. The people of Estonia will never forget his services to the restoration of our independence,” Foreign Minister Reinsalu said.
According to Foreign Minister Reinsalu, Shultz was integral to Estonia achieving its freedom and advocated for the policy of non-recognition. “In 1983, George Shultz, the U.S. Secretary of State at the time, wrote to the Consul General of the Republic of Estonia and acting ambassador Ernst Jaakson that Soviet Union troops invaded Estonia in 1940, and assured him that the United States had never recognised
Estonia and Norway hold a virtual business forum

Today, a high-level virtual visit was held between Estonia and Norway, with a business delegation also participating. Both Estonia and Norway were represented by foreign ministers, as well as Estonia’s Ambassador at Large for Climate and Energy Kaja Tael and Magnar Ødelien, the Programme Director of EEA Norway Grants at Innovation Norway. The visit included 36 bilateral meetings between companies and between countries and companies.
