US condemns attack on UN office in Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan], July 31 (ANI): The United States on Friday (local time) reiterated its call for an immediate reduction in violence in Afghanistan and stressed for negotiations without delay so that the people of the war-torn country can peacefully. We reiterate our call for an immediate reduction in violence in Afghanistan, and for all regional actors to encourage the parties to return to negotiations without delay so that the Afghan people can achieve a durable and just political settlement that brings peace and security they deserve, the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in a statement.
Over 24,000 Taliban killed, wounded in 4 months

Kabul [Afghanistan], July 30 (ANI): Over 24,000 Taliban has been killed and wounded in battles with the Afghan security forces over the past four months.
Citing the data of the State Ministry for Peace Affairs, Tolo News reported that during the period running from April to July the Taliban launched 22,000 attacks in various parts of the country and the attacks resulted in the killing and wounding of 24,000 Taliban. The influx of more than 10,000 terrorists from outside Afghanistan in order to increase the violence shows that there are also foreign hands behind the war in Afghanistan, said Sayed Abdullah Hashemi, an official of the State Ministry for Peace Affairs.

Kabul [Afghanistan], July 31 (ANI): A security guard was killed and several others were injured after the Taliban attacked the United Nations office in Afghanistan.
TOLO News reported that the UN mission in Afghanistan on Friday confirmed the attack on its office by anti-government elements on Friday that led to the death of a security guard and injured several others.
Condemning the attack, the UN said: The attack targeting entrances of the clearly marked United Nations facility was carried out by Anti-Government Elements. Citing sources from Herat, TOLO News reported that the attack was conducted by the Taliban. The group so far has not commented on the attack.

Fawzia Koofi, a member of the peace negotiating team representing the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the talks with the Taliban, on Thursday said that the presence of foreign Taliban in the northern regions of Afghanistan, particularly along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, is threatening the security of those areas. She called for swift action to neutralize them.
Numbers issued by a violence-monitoring department in the State Ministry for Peace Affairs indicate that over 24,000 Taliban fighters were killed and wounded in battles with the Afghan security forces over the past four months.
