COVID restrictions eased for marine tourism

Minister for Tourism Industry Development and Innovation and Minister for Sport The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe The Chief Health Officer has approved relaxations to COVID Safe requirements on marine tourism vessels. Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the changes would mean more visitors could enjoy the Great Barrier Reef. “Assistant Tourism Minister Michael Healy and I have been working closely with the Marine Tourism operators who wanted greater flexibility with COVID-19 requirements,” Mr Hinchliffe said. “The updated COVID Safe plan approved by the Chief Health Officer means Marine Tourism operators will be able accommodate more passengers onboard to improve business viability while meeting health obligations.”

The Courier-Mail can reveal Stirling Hinchliffe returned to ministerial duties yesterday after taking leave on Monday - the day Queensland slammed its borders shut to greater Sydney. A spokesman said Mr Hinchliffe returned from leave yesterday and hosted meetings with tourism industry stakeholders and Queensland Health . Email exchanges between the owners from December last year, revealed in court documents, showed a business relationship in decline. Mr Kendall and Mr Rankin disagreed on how much development and project manager Jim Costello should be paid as part of a services agreement.
