WASHINGTON, D.C. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) today announced $24 million in grants for 225 humanities projects across the country. These grants will support a diverse range of exemplary humanities projects, including
Audio History Project, a podcast series that uses archival audio recordings to illuminate forgotten stories about individuals and events from twentieth-century American history and culture, and Enslaved: Peoples of the Historical Slave Trade,
an online repository that documents the lives of individuals who were enslaved, owned slaves, or participated in the historical slave trade.

The museum will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Anne Grimes Rand, USS Constitution Museum President and CEO, will be there with a wide smile under her mask to greet visitors on this historic day. We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to the USS Constitution Museum on our 45th birthday, Rand said. We are committed to safely providing educational and engaging experiences for our guests. Rand commemorated the museum s 45th anniversary by firing the morning cannon on Old Ironsides. The museum said it will reopen with visitor safety enhancements and policies in accordance with city and state requirements and guidelines.

The New Bedford Free Public Library is hosting a virtual discussion with Kenneth Gloss, owner of the internationally known Brattle Book Shop in Boston and frequent guest appraiser on PBS Antiques Roadshow on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.
Register for the Zoom discussion and have a book or two on hand, as Gloss will give free verbal appraisals of participant s books.
Gloss, according to a press release, will talk about and show some of his favorite finds and describe some of the joys of the hunt, as well as explain what makes a book go up in value. He ll offer up some advice about what to look for when starting a book collection.

A Savannah native, U.S. Navy Airman Tasheyana Harden, is now serving aboard the USS
Constitution − the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat − with the crew of active-duty sailors who provide free tours and offer public visitation aboard the two-century-old sailing vessel.
Now based at Boston’s Charlestown Navy Yard, the USS
Constitution was authorized for construction by President George Washington in 1794, and was successfully launched on its third attempt in 1797. While the USS
Constitution and its related museum are currently closed to visitors as a COVID-19 precaution, duty aboard the historic ship is one of the Navy’s special programs, and all prospective crew members must meet a high standard of sustained excellence and interview to be selected for the assignment.
