Police confirms kidnap of students in Katsina, claims over 200 have returned

Daily Post Nigeria Published Their Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen on Saturday. According to Isah, the incident happened around 11.30pm and the assailants engaged in a gun battle with security personnel at the school’s gate. “The Divisional Police Office in Kankara quickly mobilised security personnel and moved to the area with Armoured Personnel Carrier and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, forcing the gunmen to retreat. “More than 200 students who jumped over the school fence into the town to hide have returned,” he said. Isah said the authorities were working to ascertain the exact number of students that have not returned.

Katsina Attack: 600 Students Still Missing After Headcount

By Seun Adeuyi 600 students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Area (LGA) of Katsina State are still missing after headcount, following the invasion of the school by armed men, on Friday night, a reliable source has disclosed. “My source who’s presently at the premises of Govt Science Secondary School Kankara that kidnappers invaded last night said hundreds of students may have been abducted. He said 600 students are missing after headcount! Parents are panicking in the school premises. #KankaraStudents,” the source said. It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari Special Assistant on Media and Publicity on Friday said that the President will be in Daura, Katsina State for a one-week “private visit”.

Gunmen attack Katsina school, abduct students

Punch Newspapers Sections Olaide Oyelude, Katsina Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Friday night invaded Government Science Secondary School Kankara in Katsina State and abducted unknown number of students. This happened barely a few hours after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), arrived in his home state of Katsina for a week-long private visit. Residents told The PUNCH that the gunmen invaded the school about 10.15 p.m and shot at one of the policemen manning the main gate of the school. One of the policemen, who was said to have been wounded on the leg, is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in the Kankara town.
