NEW DELHI: The ministry of home affairs on Thursday bluntly reminded the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi that it remains fully accountable and in charge of health and other departments which as per the Constitution lie in domain of the state government, and that the amended Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act 2021 in no way changes the arrangement stipulated by the statute. The amendments to the GNCTD Act, 1991, in no way alter the constitutional and legal responsibilities of the elected government to take necessary action, in respect of the subjects transferred to them in the State and Concurrent Lists of the Constitution of India, including subjects such as health, education, etc, the home ministry said in press release a day after AAP questioned the timing of the GNCTD (Amendment) Act, passed by Parliament last month, coming into force.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday issued a gazette notification stating that the provisions of the Government of National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021, would be deemed to have come into effect from April 27.
This comes a day after the Delhi High Court cautioned the Delhi government to put its “house in order” over the issue of inadequate oxygen supply in the city adding that the Centre would be asked to take over if the Delhi government couldn’t manage the situation created by the pandemic at hand.

New Delhi [India], January 7 (ANI): As the COVID-19 situation has improved in the national capital, the Delhi government on Thursday ordered re-opening of the medical colleges under the Government of National Capital Territory with immediate effect.
An order issued by the Delhi Health and Welfare Department, the step has been taken as there is a reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital. The medical colleges will be reopened by observing social distancing and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Consequent upon the reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the NCT of Delhi and after assessing the current situation, the re-opening of the medical colleges under GNCT of Delhi are hereby ordered with immediate effect by observing distancing and SOPs issued after lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic,
