Feb 04, 2021 03:16:03 PM The Non-Governmental Organisation Coalition for Human Rights is calling on the government to stop the intimidation of the University of the South Pacific staff. The calls come after the University of the South Pacific vice-chancellor Pal Ahluwalia and his wife were arrested from their home last night and deported to Australia this morning. Non-Governmental Organisation Coalition for Human Rights President Nalini Singh said it was unacceptable that state officials forcefully entered their homes to make the arrest. Singh said the strong-armed approach by the government is not reflective of their commitments towards protecting human rights and upholding democratic principles.
