The reopening comes at the same time as news that Ipswich Museums have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2021 International Museums + Heritage Awards. The nomination is for the Community Impact award that recognises the work the museum team undertook with local community partners, including Volunteering Matters, Suffolk Parent and Carers Network and Suffolk Libraries, in creating Museum From Home packages for children in the local community.

Asian Art museum reopens with new exhibits FAIRFIELD The Asian Art Museum has reopened its doors, with many safeguards in place. Capacity will be reduced to allow for physical distancing. Admission is free the first Sunday of each month. New exhibits on view include: • “After Hope: Videos of Resistance”: An eclectic selection of more than 50 short videos that explores the role of hope in contemporary art and activism. • “Zheng Chongbin: I Look for the Sky”: The Bay Area artist has created a site-specific installation with transparency and light to explore ephemeral changes that can alter the perception of place. The Museum From Home offerings will continue, such as “All Animal Crossing” where fans can incorporate artworks into an online island getaway.

Children can learn about Iron Age Britain thanks to a museum YOUNGSTERS can learn about what life was like in Iron Age Britain from their own homes. Colchester and Ipswich Museums launched Museum From Home during the first national lockdown and it has continued to be available across the most recent lockdown. With schools currently closed, Colchester Castle is missing its regular school visitors, so has teamed up once more with the Essex and Suffolk Children’s University to bring a slice of museum life to families at home. More structured national curriculum resources are now also available to schools and home learning providers to either use in the school environment or through home learning.
