General Motors announced today that it will be adding its Super Cruise hands-free driving technology to the 2022 model year Cadillac Escalade, CT4, and CT5, as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra and Hummer EV Pickup.
“We’re excited to expand Super Cruise to even more new models with additional capabilities to provide our customers with even more opportunities to go hands-free,” said Mario Maiorana, Super Cruise chief engineer. “The additional Super Cruise-enabled vehicles and new features are an important step toward our goal of enabling hands-free driving 95% of the time and getting people more comfortable with letting go of the wheel.”

Among the Level 2 driver assistance systems we ve tested, General Motors Super Cruise is the most effective. Super Cruise currently enables hands-free driving on compatible highways, with the enhanced version adding automatic lane changes. Today, GM announced expanded Super Cruiser capabilities for six 2022 model year vehicles. These vehicles include the upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, Hummer EV Pickup, Chevrolet Silverado, Cadillac Escalade, CT4, and CT5. Certain 2021 model year vehicles will receive the updates through an over-the-air-update.
The aforementioned vehicles will gain three new features for 2022. Most importantly, Super Cruise will now function when towing a trailer, boat, or camper. Ford s upcoming BlueCruise will not have this ability when it launches later this year.
