This year, AUC is launching its first Giving Day, a 24-hour, crowdfunding, digitally-driven, global fundraising and engagement initiative dedicated to supporting student financial needs. AUC alumni and friends who give back to the community will be making an investment in one of the most powerful tools for better futures – education, by supporting financial aid. The April 21 Giving Day will be global in reach and the first of its kind for AUC.
“This day is important because it’s the perfect moment to give, whether you’re a longtime supporter or have never given before,” said Raymonda Raif 91, executive director, Office of Alumni Engagement. “Thanks to the generosity of one of our alumni, all gifts made on #AUCGivingDay by first-time donors will be matched. Despite their many successful projects since June, most recently, Hesham and Abu Ahmed took on a new initiative they consider “one of the closest to their hearts”, inspiring students to realize their full potential and pursue their dreams. The initiative, Unscripted, is a conference that aims to connect students with some of AUC’s distinguished alumnae and female leaders on International Women’s Day, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement. Learn more about the event here.
Rather than opting for the standard many-to-many conference structure, Hesham and Abu Ahmed opted for a many-to-one, memorable and personalized structure, where female leaders would be connected to a smaller group of students for one hour to engage with and leave their unique imprint on their personal and professional growth.

How and where did you first meet?
Since we both transferred to Pratt as sophomores, we had to take Mary Buckley’s Foundation Color class. Suzie sat next to me so that she could correct my spelling of Seurat. Glad she did. The first of a lifetime of corrections.
