Watford Council announces new electric vehicle charging points

Seven more electric vehicle charging points are set to be introduced in Watford over the new few weeks, a council has said. Watford Borough Council is encouraging drivers to make the switch to more environmentally friendly vehicles, with new charging points being installed to provide more green energy in the town. Locations for the new 7kW fast EV chargers include Granville Road, Stamford Road, Sotheron Road, Grosvenor Road, Sutton Road, Westland Road and Mildred Avenue - each site will allow charging for up to two vehicles.  The provision of the charge points has been funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and Electric Blue in partnership with the borough council.

Tuesday, 26th January 2021, 3:10 pm Joe Simmons and James Keffe launched Evergreen Charging Ltd during the autumn, supplying and fitting charging units for domestic homes and businesses. In November, the Government announced that new cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel would not be sold in the UK from 2030, and Joe and James aim to ensure that Leighton-Linslade is prepared. Joe, an electrician who has previously worked on major infrastructure projects in London, said: “A friend of mine came up to me in Leighton Buzzard and said: ‘I’ve got an electric car and it needs a charger’ - but I didn’t have the qualification to do it.
