Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Operations and Advocacy Division (OAD) of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention, and facilitate sustainable solutions. This position is located in OCHA Venezuela in Maracaibo. The Humanitarian Affairs Officer reports to the Deputy Head of Office.

Just checking. - Corruption As the General Assembly holds a special session against corruption today, the Secretary-General delivered a video message at the launch of the anti-corruption GlobE Network that took place in Vienna, in Austria. He told the participants this morning that corruption is not only immoral, but it is a serious crime. He said that corruption betrays people and democracies. Turning the tide against corruption is essential if we are to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promote peace, and protect human rights, he asserted.
