The Lehigh Valley’s so good at COVID vaccinations that Floridians have flown in to get shots

When the first COVID-19 vaccination clinics opened in the Lehigh Valley, public health officials knew that some of those signing up for shots would come from outside the region.
The vaccines are federally funded so the clinics can’t turn away people who don’t meet a residency requirement. But the buzz around how efficient the Lehigh Valley has been at administering vaccines has been stronger than perhaps anyone anticipated.
Large numbers of eligible vaccine recipients at Lehigh Valley clinics have travelled to get their shots, directors from the Allentown and Bethlehem health bureaus said during a virtual forum this week.
