ASSOCHAM seeks wage support, interest subvention to help industry face Covid challenges

New Delhi: Recommending a slew of relief measures, including regulatory easing, an ASSOCHAM paper has said that the government should consider wage support mechanism and interest subvention for the MSMEs, which are reeling under the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that has shown its heightened fury in the second wave.
Even as the states are in the process of easing lockdowns, the trade and industry would need an all-round support to pick up their business thread again, after halt or near-halt of their operations since middle of April, stated the recommendations report that ASSOCHAM submitted to the government.

NEW DELHI: Hitting back at former finance minister P Chidambaram for his comments on the economy, minister of state for finance Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said India s growth will rebound on the back of consistent reforms and strong fundamentals.
Thakur also regretted that leaderless Congress (was) behaving like an ostrich reading economic data . Indian economy is resilient and will rebound in the times ahead based on consistent reforms that have ensured strong fundamentals through these difficult times.
It will also support build-up of healthcare infrastructure, mainly oxygen availability, in tier-2 and beyond cities and the hinterland, the report by leading credit ratings agency Crisil said.
